Does anyone else get irrationally angry at the mention of DE&I? I know it’s the latest right wing attack angle and I’m doing exactly what they want when I get wound up by it, but man, I cannot help but be infuriated by it.
The whole reason why policies like DE&I get introduced is to combat anti-minority hiring/promoting practices where white males get preferential treatment. There’s something so perverse about taking something that is supposed to course correct a bias and flipping it into a narrative of “it’s giving minorities preferential treatment.” No, it’s not, it’s trying to reduce the preferential treatment you’ve always had.
It just seems to boil back down to the bigoted idea that the white male candidate is the most qualified candidate by default, to which I say eat my fucking ass. It’s frustrating because I already have a hard time valuing myself in my own head without every aspect of the world - whether it’s love, or work, or even friendships - also reminding me that it doesn’t value me.

Made some tamales for an elementary school’s multicultural thanksgiving. Second time making them and I fucked up nearly every step of the recipe but they still somehow ended up delicious. The kids ate all of them.
I fucking love making tasty food for people. I’ve got so much masa dough and filling left that I’m probably gonna make 10-20 more. Might just hand em out to my neighbors lol
that’s because the number one ingredient in tamales is love, in my family we have a very hard set rule that if you’re not in a good mood you can’t make tamales.

Many such cases. I can relate deeply with your experiences and these experiences sow a seed of distrust in absolutely everyone around you. I have a hard time trusting anyone or believing anyone has my back.
Seems like the bar is extremely high for us and the only way to make it out alive is to hollow yourself out into a husk of a human being, one with insane mental fortitude and yet zero connection to love or anything delicate that anyone else is afforded.

It’s pretty good. I’m still partial to Section 80, Damn, GKMC, and TPABF. He’s definitely getting older, though, and he’s choosing to let his music grow older with him. Kendrick has almost spent as much of his life being a famous musician than he has not. 2008 was 16 years ago and he’s 37 now. It’s interesting seeing him shift into topics about being a father and husband.
Like Eminem is still doing the same shtick at 52 as he was when he was 25 (shitty attitude and views included). It’s really easy to fall into that trap of success, especially for musicians. Because Kendrick is more self aware, he’s going to put out albums where each track is high quality.
I feel the same way in that those other than damn are my favorite albums but man this one is tuff, i haven’t liked a kendrick album this much since untitled unmastered. i like introspective kenny but sometimes i need a lil something with it
