There is a frost punk community???
Yep, kind of dead though sadly :( [email protected]
Well know I know where to post my memes when the dlcs comes out.
A new law has passed!
That person will have their legs fucked for life if they crash. Most alpine skis have a mechanism that has to release the ski if there’s too much force on it (so as to not break the person’s legs), and it seems like it’s set wayyyyy to high because they have held up the skiers weight for long enough to take that picture.
Afaik the mechanism only triggers when there is momentum on the legs, not when you are pushed into the ski
There’s different forces required to release forward vs torsion side to side. A DIN 8 setting is typical for a veteran skier this size. I think that’s 180lbs of force per binding of forward lean so you got a lot to work with.
Depending on the terrain an early ski release can be more dangerous than keeping them on. Skiing is risky but that’s part of the fun!
Maybe they’re very skilled and managed to get into position in such a way that it didn’t trigger the system, which is otherwise normally tuned, but yeah you’re most likely correct. Also good to know, more advanced skiers use higher DIN settings (harder to release) to enable them to ski harder on rough terrain without the skis coming off.
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainly of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine.
oh— OOOHH thats a human in ther!!! :o
at first i thought it jus a robot… woah.
vrri funi, much enjoy <3
The frostpunk ones are just robotses however
yisyis fine… oki… sure … (i duno frostpunk, evn aftr lookin it up i dun kno mor >~<)
Its cute lil (big) robot mechs that do lots of jobs for you because its like -100°C outside so you dont wanna make people go out themselves. Much helpful, very speed.
even with the back support, those quads must be burning a little
Nah it’ll be okay. The power of fine new-london engineering 💪
I’ll just put this fire over here… with the rest of the fire.
I’ve tried that. It does, but the worst part is being terrified that the skis are gonna break or a pole is going to bend the whole time
Breaking skis is pretty difficult. Really hard to put enough load on them before the bindings click out.
Well, FWIW, my sister who was 1 or two levels above me in skiing, managed to actually break a ski, without even doing anything particularly bold. When you say you are an expert skier they do tend to make the bindings pretty damn “hard” iirc.
Now, skis poles ? I think most of them are hollow and bend when you look at them wrong
Switched to boarding pretty early so probably never had the bindings set hard enough. But have broken a few boards since the bindings aren’t meant to come loose at all, unless you just rip them out of the threads or break the straps.
What is this a reference to?
