Weird how they always put words like this into the mouths of tankies yet they never seem to muster a screenshot or a link to a comment.

Blue MAGA is wild. As soon as anyone dares breathe a word of criticism of a Democrat, immediately you’re a rabid Qanon Trump supporter in their eyes.

“I don’t support voting for Kamala, she does not represent my interests or my political beliefs.”
“Don’t you get it? You need to vote for Kamala to save democracy from Trump, who threatens to destroy it.”
“You mean the system where you vote for the candidate who represents your interests?”
      “Yes.”

These progressives seem so disconnected that I wouldn’t be surprised if the irony in that is completely lost on them.

They’re literally still calling the Gazan genocide a ‘single-issue voter’ situation.

If Kamala suddenly announced she would eat every newborn child until the next election, would people still vote for her because they don’t want to be ‘single-issue voters’?

The line has to be drawn somewhere and quite frankly the line started long before genocide.

God I hate this response so much.

The Vote Blue No Matter Who crowd seems to think that it’s some purity test or a single-issue voter deal. Mostly it’s just projection (“I agree with Kamala on everything except her support for the genocide so therefore it’s the exact same in your case”/“I’m a single-issue voter and my single-issue is No Trumps”)

I’d be inclined to engage with this response when I come across it but I try to remember that I’m not in the business of coaching my ideological opponents in how to refine their tactics. This also goes for misogynists or queerphobes etc. as well.

I think the worst thing that we could do is to yell at progressives for being completely tone deaf and failing to listen to criticisms of the Dems because eventually some of the more savvy and self-aware supporters are going to take this lesson on board and their outreach will shift from “Hold your nose and vote, dammit!!”/“I know what’s best for you and I’m going to scold you for not allowing me to dictate what your political beliefs and best interests are!!” into something slicker and more convincing.

As much as it boils my piss on a personal level to constantly hear this kind of rhetoric, ultimately it’s to my benefit if they stick to their routine of attempting to whip the voterbase into submission because it’s going to make people more disaffected, which is when those people will start looking for alternatives and they’ll start seeing these issues as systemic.

Never interrupt your enemy while they’re making a mistake and all that.

I stay as far the fuck from libs as possible at all times, so I genuinely get confused for a few seconds when they say “oh yeah!? You think Kamala would be a bad president?! Trump supporter! Look everyone, this guy loves Trump!”

I mean, at the risk, or rather with the intent, of being condescending… these people are fucking morons. They’re legitimately maybe one rung higher than some baying hog covered in his own fecal matter screaming at a the school administrators that “they better remove the cat litter from his child’s classroom or else!”

Take an undereducated, over-pampered population, add a dumpster full of insane little single issue distractions from the real shit (aka US “foreign policy” as well as all the terrible stateside shit these libs also don’t care about. Time to mass murder… deport…? Who knows which anymore… a bunch of migrants and asylum seekers!) shake it up for 50 years, scrub up off all that slimy gross “class consciousness” that may have accidentally existed at one point, never talk about class in real terms, never discuss what democracy should and could mean, just point at “oo brown Maslam man! Must kill!” “flings poo oo-oo! Trump! Oo! No Trump! Oo oo oo! No! No like!”

Americans are basically slightly higher thinking great apes. We are legitimately devolving day by day and any of these coping libs who think they aren’t just as fucking stupid and ape-brained as the hogs (too many animal comparisons…), well, I’d love for one of them to prove it some day. There’s probably some argument that some piece of shit could make that would be at least like a legitimate attempt at something beyond flinging poo at my head when I say “Who’s currently approving all the bombs and funding for bombs?” What happened to all the guys like Hitchens? I guess they’re all off whining about kitty litter just like the hogs. I keep proving myself more correct!

All these people are convinced that Trump would be worse for Palestinians.

And maybe they’re right, maybe Trump will send in straight up death squads. Maybe he’ll build vans that pipe the exhaust into the cargo area and ship them to tel Aviv. Maybe he’ll start sending the Israelis Zyclon b.

But the fact remains. The last year has been the most deadly for Palestinians. Ever. More Palestinians have been killed in the last year than died during the formation of the state of Israel. More Palestinians have had their homes destroyed in the last year, then ever before in modern history.

At this point, saying Trump would be worse for Palestine is like saying that Himmler would have been worse for the Jews. Possibly technically correct, but also a poor attempted genocide denial.

It’s fundamentally beside the point that the entire neoliberal edifice is demonstrably the worst thing for the Palestinians, and building an actual opposition does mean your opponent is liable to increase their aggression. A hypothetical Trump win is nothing but neoliberalism getting more aggressive as it is challenged (scratch a liberal, etc.). We cannot let fear of that turn us away from strategies that can actually solve things in the long term because all hands are too committed to bailing water instead of fixing the leak.

I’ve said before that people who want America to get better have to be prepared to lose; we should be voting for third party (I’m a Jill Stein supporter myself) even if it means we lose this election. We may even lose the next one, but how many elections can we lose before people get sick of Republican victories and have zero choice but to vote third party? The Republican party itself is getting more unhinged because the DNC keeps supporting the most psychotic elements so they can tell dem voters you have to vote for them.

I don’t think we should minimise the dangers of the Republicans creating a one party state or there being a military coup. I mean, the Democrats won’t do anything to stop it, but we don’t have an electoral path in America at all. Maybe we did a couple of decades ago, not anymore.

The libs just want someone who will quietly and politely do genocide without dropping the mask too hard. Trump won’t do that, so in their eyes he’s automatically worse on this issue to a level they believe justifies voting for Harris. If that’s not mathematical proof liberals are racists who care far more about the idea the United States is a fundamentally good country than they care about this genocide, then I don’t know what is.

They will not put the smallest effort into even trying to think about how absurd they’d sound to the Palestinians who now constantly occupy the space between living a life with dignity and dying badly, their entire culture and identity extinguished because settlers are too racist to share. The US being a country descendant from the same type, is ever gleeful to aid Israel in any manner they deem necessary. Both of the American capitalist parties are entirely subservient to the same existing military industrial complex, they are both accomplice to the Palestinian genocide equally.

Given these two parties are our only option because of the way our voting system works, would it not be fair to say we actually do not have a democracy? All semblance that the US is not a blatant dictatorship of the capitalist class dies once you understand our electoral candidates run entirely at the whim of each capitalist party. Neither have any obligation to actually conduct primaries if they choose not to, you can’t vote your way into forcing them to do something they fundamentally don’t want to do. No one fucking voted for Kamala Harris, yet she’s half our total allowed candidate pool.

Expressing support for one or the other genocidal capitalist faction makes these libs accomplice. In doing so, libs admit they believe stopping this genocide isn’t as important as conducting this genocide gracefully. Either that or they believe stopping this genocide isn’t as important as whatever domestic issue they believe the democrats pay lip service to. That doesn’t justify throwing the Palestinians under the bus, which is what they’re doing when they loudly exclaim the democrats have their vote regardless of any material intention to stop being accomplice to a genocide.

Anyone who isn’t a racist shithead sees right through it, this tendency of western libs will be a useful litmus test in the years to come.

Let me be clear, I will always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself, and I will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself, because the people of Israel must never again face the horror that a terrorist organization called Hamas caused on Oct. 7, including unspeakable sexual violence and the massacre of young people at a music festival.

    -Kamala Harris

She can’t have it both ways. You can’t call out a genocide without using the word while at the same time you’re providing the weapons used to commit that genocide. Fucking ridiculous.

Under the assumption that dems care about winning (questionable), the precedent must be established that they cannot do genocide and still have people vote for them. No matter what. As was said, four years of Trump isn’t comparable to even a single day in Gaza. It is a dark future if the alleged left opposition knows they can happily support mass murder and large numbers of idiots will not only vote for them but also spend many hours viciously shaming those who will not. Although perhaps we already live in that future and have since long ago, but it is never too late to establish that precedent. That is the total extent of harm reduction I am prepared to engage in.

Yeah that’s basically it. The idea is that anyone insisting on taking a hard stance is only able to be idealistic because have no skin in the game and that the people who really know how things work due to lived experience are cold pragmatists out of necessity. It’s a standard Internet thing where the argument is appropriate in other contexts, but has been coopted by people who don’t have any respect for that appropriate context and just engage in sophistry whenever the argument will make them sound smarter.

It’s probably the same reason “outrage porn” exists for both Dems and Republicans.

“Senator from backwoods middle of nowhere [R] said racist thing!”

“Drag queen exists in a small town”

      “Immigrant man did criminal thing!”

      Etc.

It activates some sort of pleasure zone in our brains. IDK why or how but I think political junkies get entertainment from this kind of content. Like we know it’s going to upset us but we can’t look away. Wish I knew how to stop it.
