This is big! Reading between the lines, it seems that at the very least:

1. Marvel/Disney is actively planning ways to use the Defenders characters in the MCU in the future

2. The primary barrier to using Defenders characters will be budget constraints and actor availability

It would be interesting to see if The Defenders comes back, any of the existing shows get spiritual successors, or if movies with these characters come out in the future. It’d be pretty cool if we end up seeing, for example, the Defenders version of Danny Rand team up with Shang Chi in the sequel that most definitely is going to happen (per pinkie promises)

It is a great shock for me to learn that my first book, Freckleface Strawberry, has been banned by the Trump Administration from schools run by the Department of Defense.

It’s worse than America, marginally better than Europe and significantly better than China, Russia, North Korea, etc. despite arguably being on the same trajectory. The benefit is that they haven’t really been sliding towards authoritarianism until relatively recently as I understand it.

That said, their culture seems fine enough and we could learn a thing or two from their niceness.

A friend looked at me in shock when I and another friend told her that our phones are always on Do Not Disturb and I thought that was the funniest thing ever lol

I liked it. It was a lil clunky, but not so clunky that you’d know that it went through development hell if nobody told you. Some of the dialogue was flat and busy telling the audience what it already showed us, but most of it was competent if not good. I think the humor in this movie wasn’t crazy but it was wayyyyyy better than the standard brand of “Marvel humor” we usually see. The “since when were they red?” line is basically the only moment we get of humor like that, it was quite refreshing. And no, Torres wasn’t annoying in this movie, at least not to me, he was fine (although I don’t like how the writers positioned him for most of the third act). The action was great for the most part even if at times it feels like Cap has Domino’s superpower.

If this movie has a major flaw, it’d be that it borrows many themes and plot points from TWS and CW. But I liked those beats and they were competently handled, so the movie works for me.

I’m astounded by how poorly this movie is being received. Especially considering the rumors surrounding the reshoots and test screenings, it felt to me like it exceeded the expectations those rumors set in my mind by leaps and bounds.

I see reports that they actually do industry-wide bans so if you’re banned on one app they run, you’re banned on all the others. Ban evaders often also have to get new phones and use brand new pictures for those profiles if they want to get back on, say, Tinder. Some of the information in the article about how easy it is to evade a ban here seems pretty outdated if not outright deceptive.
