Have you tried more thoughts and prayers?
Have you tried more thoughts and prayers?
Amazing dad joke. I’m totally using that someday lol
Honestly, there are many reasons… Poverty is a huge factor. Highly processed foods are usually the cheapest and most convenient option. And sometimes a soda can be cheaper to purchase than water. Also, school budgets are usually funded by property taxes, so areas in poverty have significantly degraded educational programs and facilities.
The poor education levels mean that people rarely learn about the impacts of high sugar diets on the body. People will feed their child a high sugar diet starting as early as a 2 years old. I’ve seen a document where a woman was feeding their toddler Mt dew out of a baby bottle…
Advertising techniques play a big role here too. Foods labeled as nutritious are actually just pumped full of sugar. Foods like yogurt, “bread”, granola bars, cereals, or anything with a sauce in it.
On top of all that, Americans have an extremely sedentary lifestyle. From sitting in cubicles to sitting in cars, then finally to the couch. The most walking people do is from the parking lot to the store/building they are going to.
I bet a Greece’s numbers don’t include all the Cruise Ships from foreign countries that sail around the Greek islands and spew smoke 24/7…
When I was there earlier this year (in the off season no less), there would be 3-4 massive ships sitting in the port at any given moment.
Sounds like the prison industrial complex working as intended.
How does she go to so many shows so quickly?
Lots and lots of private jet flights. Also planes/trucks haul tons of gear all over the world. These are sources of resource extraction that show her to sell so many tickets in so many places.
My first language was Polish, but I’ve lived in the US most of my life and my English is better than many Americans’. So now I say that I’m a native English speaker who is fluent in Polish.
Smh…He was just looking for a kitchen to cook in…
“I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee…”
I can’t believe this one from Skyrim wasn’t in the thread yet.
HEADSHOT!
My dad works for the DOT in a state that has a large homeless population. After the police remove everyone from the campsite, the DOT goes in to clean up.
And by clean up, I mean thely just throw literally everything into a big dumpster. Although apparently it can be pretty gross due to the unsanitary conditions (no toilets) and drug needles laying around, so they get ‘hazard pay’ and overtime pay for the job.
I’m sure the team of cops get ‘hazard pay’ and probably overtime as well. This usually takes a day or two and happens every few weeks. The cost of labor alone to temporarily displace these homeless people must be astronomical… I bet they could build so much temporary/transition housing with that money instead.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that the police usually only remove these encampments in wealthier neighborhoods and let the poor areas deteriorate.
Plus, he can always dismiss the generals who disagree with him, and appoint new ones that do.
Another fact: Society failed to educate him properly using taxpayer money.
Perhaps society deserves to face the consequences of its actions.
Military industrial complex goes brrrrr
Per capita they’re still waaay lower than the USA. And they’re implementing public transit and renewable power faster than most other countries.
That’s not even considering how much Chinese manufacturing is solely for Western consumption.
I personally think it will take a complete shift in human mentality. One that will only come about via artistic movements, whether that be music, painting, film, or even propaganda posters.
IMO, art is the most important factor for bring about such a massive cultural shift. Kind of like how art in the Renaissance caused people to view life more scientifically and logically instead of based purely of faith.
Similarly, art from the the hippie movement in the 70s promoted peace and love instead of competitiveness, war and destruction.
These models always assume that direct carbon capture technologies will extract ridiculous amounts of the CO2 out of the atmosphere.
Also 3C will be devastating as is though. That’s not including biodiversity loss, ocean acidification, and rising sea levels.
Even if they raise hotel prices 50%, they’ll still be cheaper than hotels in other massive cities. If people don’t mind paying $300/night in Paris or London, they’ll be okay with paying $150-200/night in Barcelona.
That’s too bad. It’s one of my favorite shows. At first you don’t know the characters so everyone is weird, but then you fall in love with them and I crack up all the time.
It’s kind of like arrested development, in that it is funnier when rewatching it than it was the first time through lol
