Oh, this isn’t r/AITAH? Sheesh, thought I somehow stumbled back onto reddit.

I grew up Southern Baptist and it was common for people to be re-baptized if they had doubts or left the faith after their first time. The theological justification is that they must not have truly accepted Jesus into their hearts if the first baptism didn’t “take,” so if you asked to be re-baptized the pastor would ask you a bunch of questions to make sure you’re actually serious this time.

I was baptized when I was 7 and have since left the church, but some of my family have begged me to come back and truly accept Jesus into my heart so I can be re-baptized.

I saw this before but didn’t see that the intruder was wearing a ski mask. JFC, trigger-happy piggies are really not the brightest bulbs.

That’s a good point, it’s an interesting social phenomenon that people tend to be fond of Valve in spite of this because they’re seen as good stewards of the space. It’s like having a landlord that takes good care of the property and makes regular improvements. The property relations are still exploitative, but they’re doing better than most others would within that exploitative framework.

I’ve heard that, yes, but that doesn’t change the fact that the relationship Gaben has with Valve workers is inherently parasitic. He may be a “good boss,” but he’s still their boss, has ownership of all their work, and could fire them at will.

You cannot possibly earn a billion dollars. That money is the excess labor value of Valve workers. In the context of how our society is currently structured Gaben certainly isn’t the worst of them, but he’s still a member of the parasite class.

I mean, duh. The fascists won full control of the US government. They haven’t even gotten started, these are just the social consequences. If this caught you by surprise you haven’t been paying attention.

The Netherlands has extra immunity beyond just the political system by way of a strong social safety net as well. Fascism thrives on poverty and resentment. But keep in mind, the Netherlands is practically the perfect example of social democracy and yet still the far-right is able to find a foothold to power. The Netherlands does a great job treating the symptoms of capitalism, but the foundations can still rot.

What country? Virtually every liberal democracy is currently experiencing a far-right resurgence right now, with similar themes of austerity and lower taxes on the rich. Multiparty democracies, especially those with parliamentary systems, have greater immunity, but they’re all suffering from the same disease because they have the same foundational flaws.

No Labels is another one of these centrist parties with the exact same slogan. Serious, their slogan was “Not Left. Not Right. Forward.” This “Forward Party” is practically a carbon copy.
