Just use Prism Launcher, makes modpacks as easy to install as vanilla.

There are mods that only need to run on the server. For a good example, see young’s mods or terralith, both of which you can just run on a fabric server while vanilla clients can join just fine. That way quite a few of nice features can be added to the game.

Create extra runs smoothly on my laptop with only integrated graphics and power limited so hard that the fans do literally never spin up.

The magic of fabric optimisation mods, this thing probably runs smoother than vanilla.
