minus-squareleave_it_blank@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up113·1 year agoIt’s funny. Before this crackdown none of my co-workers used adblockers. To install an add-on was too much hassle. They just watched the ads. Now suddenly they became interested after hearing about them again, and almost all are running Firefox with ublock origin now. YouTube should have just kept quiet, I don’t believe they are better off now more than before.

minus-squareBjörn Tantau@swg-empire.delinkfedilinkarrow-up14·1 year agoI was really surprised (and annoyed) to see some ads on Twitch yesterday.
minus-squareGormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zonelinkfedilinkarrow-up16·1 year agoStraight up the first ads I’ve seen in a long time were on twitch. Then of course the first ad I see was for Narcan followed by an ad for Smirnoff. God I fucking hate ads
minus-squareMonkderZweite@feddit.chlinkfedilinkarrow-up7·1 year agoAds need to be clearly identifiable as such here.
minus-squareComradeWeebelo@lemm.eelinkfedilinkarrow-up9·1 year agoTwitch embeds ads directly into the stream now. They’re next to impossible to block now, though I’ve heard some people say it’s still possible.
minus-squareCarl@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up2·1 year agoI will have to try that. My way of blocking twitch ads is using my vpn. But it disconnects me from chat for a few seconds, when an ad should appear.
