    So let’s game this out.

US soft power will decline, and regional powers and China will fill the vacuum. Europe can slow the US fall by actively welcoming China to bid on US port access, thus making everyone play nice a few more years, but we need to look for a soft line of Chinese power in the Philippines around 2050. Saudi Arabia can still collapse into a caliphate at some point, but Israel will remain a propped up power blocking Iran no matter what. If trump sold nuke secrets to SA that will be a really tense area, and Europe and Israel will have to keep them from any uranium from Iran or others.

China should definitely push space partnerships in the coming years with Europe and Russia, and while SpaceX will be hard to beat, they will face subsidized competition to keep them from being the only game in town, requiring you to drink a cup of US crazy with every launch. So space launch costs will go down (by SpaceX continuing and other countries subsidizing), ISS will deorbit, China will build a moon base, America will talk about how dumb that is because they didn’t do it.

China will become a co-leader of research with Europe, it will become common for US grad students to leave the country to go to good schools in their field.

I’m just one US citizen but I’d like to apologize to all Ukrainians on behalf of 50% or so of all people here. Our leadership is disgusting.

Sorry, but you don’t have the authority to do that. You’re just a “one US citizen”.

Anyway, we have already heard too many sorries, condolences and concerns. They are worthless. Please try to do something more real if you really care. And it would be in your best interests too: Trump will hurt US citizens too.

History being made. The US showed its incapability to negotiate and discuss. What a shitshow.

Also Zelensky is an absolute terachad.

I am literally jealous that Ukraine has a strong backboned leader who doesn’t lose his moral compass and won’t be pushed around.

Meanwhile, we get a leader so weak that he looks over paperwork drafted by himself 6 years ago, calls it a disgrace, and says whomever drafted it should be ashamed. Not remembering it’s HIS paperwork from his 1st term!

Now granted, I’m not jealous of the war with Russia. My heart goes out to every Ukrainian. I just wish Biden would have had the spine to send troops in, and I’m completely embarassed on every level that HE represents my country/me.

And obviously putin is just a shithead.

Agreed - I just donated to Zelensky’s fund to help Ukraine.

I hope other people feel the same, the fund blows up (theres a total on the page) and next time he’s at the white house Zelensky can use his time in front of the media to thank us for donating huge amounts… biggest donations ever seen… Lol

Me too. America is a real worry at the minute, and I’m very scared that we don’t have a leader strong enough to tell Trump to get fucked.

Albo is too cowardly, and Mr. Potato Head is too much of a Trump supporter.

Never forget: Ruzzia could end this shit war in a second by simply returning to their shit country.

Does trump push them to do so? No. Not the slightest. Instead he bullies the victim. He is a ruzzian azzhole. That’s simply it.

Trump is an absolute spoiled brat. When things don’t go his way, he yells, name calls and throws people out. This is the leader of the free world, being manoeuvred by his Russian masters.

The west may be the “freest” part of the world, but I don’t buy into the “free world” propaganda bullshit. There is so much heirarchy and oppression in our “liberal democracies”, sure, it’s far better than the authoritarian regimes in other places, but IMO, “free world” is a stretch.

Now that doesn’t take away from the fact maintaining Ukraine’s “freer” political system over a neofacist imperialist Putin is an absolute necessity to fight for the right of Ukrainians and their right to self determination.

Free world means democracy, and democracy is not bullshit. Name any authoritarian regime that is even close to the freedom and quality of life of an average functioning or even a flawed democracy.

sure, it’s far better than the authoritarian regimes in other places

So you are buying into it anyway??? You sure changed your mind quickly.

          Is it perfect? No.
Do we have something that is proven to be better? No.
The only thing better than democracy, is if the democracy can be improved.

Actually, I think your reasoning is part of the problem.

For decades the “it gets better” and “best of bad systems” narratives kind of worked, but if we’re being honest, our wealth and freedom was always bought by oppression somewhere else.

We don’t have serfs or slaves domestically anymore, we have them abroad in Vietnam or import them semi-legally for a few months or so.

We uphold international law, but only if it suits us. Our wars are all justified.

This hypocrisy is what’s fueling the current downfall. The economic disaster alienated the population, it’s not getting better for them, they’re worse off. Liberal democracy didn’t deliver.

Every petty dictator can invade somewhere else and can (rightly!) claim that we didn’t do anything about Iraq, or Kosovo, or Israel, or Yemen.

Maybe we used to be somewhat free, but we’re not anymore. And we’re actively destroying freedom elsewhere.

Wow, that’s a bleak view of things, although admit there is some truth to it, it’s not always like that.
Take EU as an example about how cooperation has been to the benefit of all. Ireland was once one of the poorest countries in Europe, but is now among the richer countries.
Also Spain, going from being a backwards dictatorship as late as the 70’s, to now being a full fledged progressive democracy with a vastly better economy.
This is because of the inclusion of the EU model, and the help that goes to promote development of less well off regions. Which has shown mutually beneficial.

I agree on the global scale things could be a lot better. But the culprit is no longer exploitation by the rich countries, as much as it is religion and totalitarian regimes.

The Arab world constitute 456,520,777 people according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_world.
Yet Arabic has fewer translated works than a small Scandinavian country like Denmark of only 6 million, with about 10 million world wide that speak the language.

I think you still didn’t understand.

Yes, our lives are better, but the many Danish books are bought by (figuratively) having less arabic books. Denmark has next to nothing, just like Germany or Austria. But with cheap energy from the global south and cheap manufacturing in third countries they could get ahead quite a lot.

Yes, Spain got rid of its dictatorship, but that’s been 50 years ago and Franco’s grave is still a place of worship.

The EU is only inwardly inclusive. It doesn’t give a shit about Africa for example. Ukraine also only became relevant when the EU proper was threatened.

I’m starting to get the feeling that world leaders are starting to learn how to play trump like a fiddle. Macron with his sexy french accent, starmer pulling out the kings invite, and zelensky making trump pull out of the stupid deal by using the press against him, then having trump kick him out.

At this point I think a clean break from the US is probably one of the best outcomes. Don’t give these degenerate cretins anything, they will use whatever position they have to crowbar in more and more exploitation until they have everything. No calls, no visits, no deals. Make us a pariah.

Zelensky asked Vance if he’d been to Ukraine himself to see the problems the country faced. “I’ve been… I’ve actually seen and watched the stories,” Vance said. At one point when Zelensky began to respond, Trump said: “You’ve done a lot of talking. Your country is in big trouble. You’re not winning this.” “We are staying, Mr. President, we are staying in our country, staying strong. From the very beginning of the war, we’ve been alone. And we are thankful. I said thanks in this Cabinet,” Zelensky responded. “You are not in a good position. You don’t have the right cards right now,” Trump said. “I’m not playing cards,” Zelensky responded.
