That’s interesting. You seem to think that Marx would reject any form of leadership in a socialist movement, since the leadership would then have different material interests than everyone else. And yet, this is completely out of line with what Marx actually wrote, and he was constantly feuding with anarchists who thought this way. Are you sure we’re the ones who have misunderstood Marx’s position? Perhaps you’d like to cite something he wrote to demonstrate that your interpretation is correct.

Lol. It’s almost impossible to be a tankie without being an intellectual. You’re expected to be an expert on all sorts of subjects like history and economics and your ideas come under much more scrutiny then if you simply follow the mainstream. We don’t tolerate bigotry or discrimination, and actively try to confront our own cultural biases, and we have solidarity with oppressed people around the world, regardless of our own interests, because we seek to unite along class lines rather than race, national identity, etc. It’s difficult to imagine how we could possibly be more different than MAGA.
Liberals, on the other hand, share many similarities. They align with one tribe in modern American politics and that is the limit of their political understanding, anyone who does not fit into their tribe must therefore belong to the other tribe, which is exactly how the other tribe thinks. Even when liberals and MAGAs try to study politics in other times and places, they immediately try to force every faction into modern American boxes. And because liberals define themselves relative to MAGA (the only other ideology they know), they fail to recognize the similarities, for example, you see yourselves as being intellectual on the basis that you are slightly less anti-intellectual than MAGA, which is an extremely low bar - yet trying to get a liberal to actually read theory rather than just assuming they know everything is incredibly difficult.
