Surely, he could just say “I don’t like pumpkin pie”,
I mean, how many people you know eat it outside of thanksgiving? If it’s only good ~month and then not good the rest of the year, you should accept that pumpkin pie is not good, and just make two Apple Pies.
(Okay so maybe I have this argument with my extended family every year. FWIW, it’s the texture. It freaks me out.)
Pumpkins are not in season all year. Same with peach pie, blueberry pie, and all the various fruits and such. Seasonal pies are certainly a thing in my household. I’m also the oddball that gets a pumpkin pie for my birthday. If apple is your jam, ha, then you should make an apple and cheese pie. Sounds super weird but is a game changer. I didn’t realize I had such strong opinions on pie.
Neither are apples, also, the vast majority of pumpkin pie is made using canned purée which is good year round. There’s only a relatively small number of people that make it from scratch.

Even if he doesn’t eat it, his god is still sliced up and baked on the table.
Better if they used the Spear of Longinus to cut the pie
