I don’t feel like this is a particularly useful conversation, so I’ll just leave it with this reply and move on.

But did you ignore the part where he can’t be full on “hang the rich, take their shit, let’s go boys”? And I’m exaggerating because you’re exaggerating. I was using Bernie as an example. I also used Lula. Why no comment on Lula? He’s not perfect either. He’s not full blown commie either. He’s to the left of Bernie though and has shown it by condemning Israel without reservations. Whatever hangups you have towards Bernie, ok, I probably share them (mostly his support or not total condemnation of US imperialism especially). If you wouldn’t cooperate with Lula though I think “lost deep, deep down in the sauce” might apply.

This is also ignoring literally all the context just so some point, which wasn’t even a good point, imo (see above), can be made. Hasan isn’t a politician. He’s not a political leader. You know this because you correctly pointed out streamers aren’t going to save us, or whatever.

He’s the equivalent basically of like Tucker or Hannity, etc. Not a journalist, just a person who consumes journalists’ output and then “has opinions” on that output. Basically interpreting it for a broad audience that wants to hear “politics man” regurgitate the slop but with a “but here’s what’s actually going on.”

This is probably something most people who think like you or I could do as well. Maybe that’s why you view it as purely slop and worthless. I disagree. Just because we could do it doesn’t mean anything. We aren’t doing it. Few people are doing it with any real audience. He does it to an audience of like 30-40K live viewers daily for half the damn day. Constantly refuting US narratives, shitting on pro-imperialism chatters, etc. Is this worthless to you? To have a guy with a large audience willing to yell at chatters (normal young Americans or Europeans, for the most part) for their ignorant or just purely evil opinions on imperialism?

To me this is the exact opposite of worthless. It has immense value. Many of these young people have never heard of Marxism. They may have little idea about why and how the US carries out its imperialist goals worldwide. He humanizes the victims of imperialism and he yells at these wild hogs the way no one else (with visibility) is doing.

If every single chatter ended up coming to believe exactly the same things Hasan does, the United States and the world as a result would be infinitely better. More humane, more fair, etc. It wouldn’t be perfect.

I just do not see any point in tearing down or attacking people like Hasan. Attack the right wing streamers, sure, have at it. And the libs. But guys that are 1 inch to your right…? How is this constructive? Sincerely, I would like to know what you’d rather he do, say, or whatever. Is there even an opinion on that front or is it just generalized anger at him for being a wealthy American (which is legitimate, but just say that if it’s what you feel. It makes this a lot easier)? Is it just “kill all streamers”? That’s a great meme, but this is me asking past the meme.

I feel like most of the time people don’t really specifically have anything against him or what he says/does. They just have resentment towards the fact that he can even exist. That entertainers and streamers exist. I understand that feeling as well. In a perfect world maybe the “no streamers” thing would be real. I also don’t see a point in condemning basically the best example of one person successfully doing it in the least harmful way.

I firmly believe that a “dude bro” yelling at teens and 20 year olds to stop believing capitalist, imperialist bullshit narratives (and showing them evidence why) is a net positive. That’s my underlying “thesis” or whatever here.
