The Texas State Board of Education has given initial approval to a Bible-infused curriculum that would be optional for public schools to adopt for lessons from kindergarten through fifth grade.
In the case of Texas, malicious compliance would just be “directly” quoting Jesus. Make a few 7th graders write essays on the Sermon on the Mount and the Texas board will be racing to replace Bible studies with some “free enterprise” course about the magic of capitalism.
Edit: I added quotes around “directly” because obviously, Jesus didn’t write the New Testament so the quotes aren’t direct.
