I made a post earlier this week, which was met with an aggressive hostile witch hunter who apparently has nothing better to do then just try to insinuate flaming / witch hunting towards me because they don’t like what they’re reading.

This is possibly the third time I’ve dealt with a super, aggressively toxic person who comes in and writes a huge, massively long off-topic rant on one of my posts… and what’s the entire basis of it? Witch hunting. Not responding to the topic or the discussion post, just writing a big wall-length post of “this person bad, pls upvote and shame”. He alleges I’ve used AI to generate my posts or some of my writing, which is absurd and ridiculous, everything I say is written by me, an actual human like tf? But even if he suspected it, why does he have to go on a huge, massive rant and throw it out there, like what does this add to the community?

We have to really think about how we want our community to act going forward, because this raises a huge concern. AI is not going anywhere, it’s the future of humanity basically. Students are using it in college or high school, many getting accused falseley of using it. So having people witch hunt like the Salem witch trials “HES AN AI!” on posts is just absurd, it’s baffling. But more importantly, the toxicity. This is what inevitably killed reddit too. Someone with an ego so incredibly fragile they had to resort to reviewing someone’s entire post history, and then comment that in a post just to… make them feel bad? Shame them? like seriously? It undermines the entire purpose of Lemmy or any other discussion board. To discuss things. They can’t be bothered to actually discuss the point, they just resort to insults. Unbelievable.

The ‘witch hunter’ seemed to present a compelling case that you’re not engaging in the community in good faith. How do you explain having so many contradictory posts?

Ok. So first, I didn’t see anything insulting you or trying to really alienate you in any way. They were just disagreeing with you. Some people are going to say some unnecessary shit, because hell, we all do it, but nothing appears to be a witch hunt. Just expressing in detail why they thought you are wrong. That’s what open discourse is for. If they were trying to witch hunt, then they’d be trying to shut your posts or comments down and make you look like you are a problem. They aren’t doing that. Just saying you’re wrong.

And if I missed direct insults or insulting wording, point it out, but my initial analysis is you’re being dramatic

So it’s completely ok and intentionally designed that people can just go grab 10-15 posts you’ve made and go on a long rant with no basis in reality that you’re using AI, and try to get people to hate you? How does that make any sense? It contributed nothing to the discussion whatsoever. If that’s the case, this might not be the place for me, and you can certainly expect others won’t want to be here either. That’s just as bad as reddit.

Okay so I read the comment, (is that witch hunting), and I agree with them. You’ve gone around being very negative about gaming, and are upset that someone called you out for being negative? Do you see the irony there? You’re allowed to have negative opinions of course, but if all gaming makes you annoyed then maybe it’s time to just disengage from the gaming communities. Not everyone has to like everything, but purposefully being in a community just to shit on everything doesn’t make you the hero.

I have no idea why you brought up AI at all, unless you’re admitting you’re using AI to write your comments which other people seem to assume you are. Which… k, weird, just write your comments, don’t know why we need anything extra.

In short, you can’t be mad when you’re being negative everywhere and then people call you out for being negative. If you want a more positive experience then… just be more positive.
