Well the game was very poorly balanced. You typically had to lose a few times to figure out how it works, and that can be frustrating for someone who doesn’t get the play style, so I can see why people bounced.
I love the original Dead Rising, but fuck it is stressful to play. The strict time management, the gameplay difficulty, the save system, starting the game completely underpowered, and the game just letting you fail and showing you how bad you fucked everything up, it’s brutal. Even after almost 20 years, hearing just the first second of the song that plays while the convicts are outside in the jeep raises my blood pressure.
Get those dumb bastards stuck on a tree and slap them around with a katana. EZ, no diff, gg.
Cheesing the bosses is the only way to win in this game lol.
The clown was the easiest. Just keep walking in and out of his zone. He just resets position lol. So you can just shoot him down over 3 minutes.
Now DR2 I did not have a good time cheezing any of the bosses.
I just found the whole 3 day repeating cycle system to be weird and not so elegant. It’s also why I never got into Majora’s Mask.
But the other thing was super early on, it’s a fun zombie game where you’re fighting with makeshift melee weapons, but that is quickly discarded for a majority of gun fights against humans and that wasn’t what I got the game for. I pretty much stopped playing when most of the enemies went from zombies to gangbangers with machine guns.
So the first 30 minutes of the game?
I’m glad I’m not the only one who found the cycle annoying. And I also didn’t finish Majora’s mask. I remember the temple where I had to run around and turn back time over the over just to pass these mummies who wanted different items. It became so tedious I gave up.
The first time I played dead rising I was so confused about the timer that I didn’t know it was a game end thing and I didn’t get anything done
I remember Dead Rising as being the first game that I could not read the text on the screen because I was using an old CRT television
I made the mistake of taking the lady who can’t walk and had to be given a piggy back ride through THE WRONG WAY past the escaped convicts on the Humvee, and haven’t played since
I still want to go back though, I know I can make it through again.
