I’ve met people that make literal drones for them but it’s undergrad research so they’re either unpaid or it’s like a $2000 stipend for 3 months of work. And these people are the most ardent defenders of American foreign policy I’ve met.

It’s not just about already rich people. A lot of kids in school from working class families seeing Lockheed, Raytheon, etc. as nothing more than easy money.

Those guys will be the shittiest workers because they only care about the money and not the actual work/company. You want those guys to be the ones working there

Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people who work desk jobs in finance and engineering firms actually work their ass off cause the concentration of kool-aid drinkers is so high amongst those populations

You should be afraid of the people who can make easier/better money elsewhere but still choose defence firms

They work their asses off, but not in the same way a line worker will literally work their ass off. There is a huge fucking difference, especially since finance and engineering people usually get compensated at some point (even if it isn’t within the yearly pay cycle).

I don’t think the opposite was ever a popular belief. It seems that everyone knows that, at least in finance (especially speculative), the people there do not see the world as anything more than arrows going up or down, and they’ll do everything to make sure money is made either way. When I say “easy money”, I don’t mean the job is easy, but rather it’s easy to get one simply because so much of the faculty and sponsors of higher education are military or MIC, so it’s relatively easy to get connected in that sector. At least in my state, but maybe that’s because we have a large military and engineering presence.

Would a state that implements such means testing even have investment firms and private weapon manuiacturers in the first place?

Can’t you just do like a reverse of the current US anti-communist stipulation from citizenship and go “are you an imperialist or have you ever been part of an imperialist group” as part of the conditions and then actually enforce it?
