And thus begins the beginning of the chillo season.

At front is an orange hab , ones at the back are thais. Took under a week to pop which was surprising.

Thanks for the reminder, I wanted to give them a go this season and wasn’t quite sure when to jump in. I planted Jalapenos last summer that have actually survived winter somewhat, but had almost zero heat. Planning to get something a bit hotter this season

If I manage to stab myself we have paramedics on site so I should survive. Do you think I could claim it under workcover as a workplace injury?

It’s ok, it was getting a bit stabby but the whole thing was off as soon as I got to my car to go home. I don’t think I could have pulled the wire out without major bra surgery unfortunately - although if I hadn’t been about to go home anyway I probably would have resorted to that.

Ah bugger! I’ve never actually snapped one, just had that slow extrusion of one side out through a tiny gap, a millimetre at a time until my boob is being uncomfortably prodded.

I’ve had that a few times, and one time the wire just worked it’s way out the side so far it was basically an overwire!

      🙂 are you me

I swear I can’t bear eating out with my BIL, he has the manners of an arsehole. I was going to say pig but pigs have manners of their own.

      I try not to look.

Wise and strong! It seems like that’s the best choice to avoid drama as much as possible. I don’t think it’s awful at all to be relieved that you can avoid dealing with people who’ve displayed such entitled and childish behaviour. Doesn’t matter if they’re your own blood relatives even.

My dog did something that I’ve never seen him do before. Waited until the kid got up from the kitchen table to blow her nose, leaped on to the chair, skinny body stretched out, front paws on the table and hoovered the rest of her meal up in seconds. He didn’t even stop when I walked in. This is why I have rules about pushing chairs in.

Kid now understands why they need to follow the rule too!

I had a dog that loved walking around on the dining table, so any time a chair wasn’t pushed in she would be up there, whether there was any food or not. The other dog I had at the time would just sit on the chair like you’d expect of any invited guest.

Sammi woke me at 4:00 for snuggles and purrs. Not exactly complaining, given the circumstances.
She requested breakfast a little later, and after a little trial and error, chicken creamy treats seem to be the way to go.
Still going to take her back for a follow up with the senior vet as soon as I can, but I’m a lot more hopeful than I was yesterday.

Sweet Sammi, eating is a good sign!

Edit: you can download these PDFs for free, and do it on Sammi. The Feline Grimace Scale - it should help to tell you if Sammi is currently in pain. https://www.felinegrimacescale.com/

I use that, and TPR (temp, pulse rate, respiratory rate) Temp - use a rectal thermometer, temp shouldn’t be above 39c. (Normal range: 37.2c - 39.2c)
Pulse rate - if she lets you, you can feel for the femoral artery underneath their back legs near the groin. Time it for 15secs and multiply by 4. No higher than 200beats per min (normal range: 160-200)
Edit: you can also use your hand under their front left leg, next to their heart if you cannot find the back leg artery
Respiratory rate - watch their breathing, when not purring! Time it over 15 seconds and then multiply by 4, shouldn’t be higher than 30 breaths per minute. (Normal range: 15 - 30).

Of any of these are above their max thresholds, then Sammi may be in pain. Obviously she is unwell, but this may be helpful in the future or to anyone else unsure when to take their cat to the vet :)

Edit edit: Grimace scales seem fanciful but are used on lab mice, rats, and rabbits, cats and I believe dogs.

The feline grimace scale is amazing. I can tell from my cat’s face and body language when she needs help and follow it up.

She sometimes tries to hide it but when I see those signs they never lie.

Edit: Melbcat also sometimes does a light rapid breathy purr that seems like a pain purr. Sometimes purring can be a self soothing thing during pain or distress

Had donuts cravings this morning that demanded satisfaction. The Paris theme ones really hit the spot, especially the creme brulee 😋 Still riding the high of Miniest winning “Most Creative Costume” award at her parade on Friday. Costume made it home intact, so now I have a giant wearable book in the loungeroom 😂

Omg I’m eating out ATM in a busy place and I just sneezed into a napkin in a way that made a seal with my mouth. It came out as an enormous squeak squeal thing and turned everyone’s heads. Eek.
