For me
- Bloodborne
2.Demon souls bluepoint remake
- Ghosts of Tsushima
4.God of War
5.The last of us/ Uncharted.
- Rachet + clank
All good to great
Death stranding and Horizon = slop dog shit Imo could not finish them
These are the ones I’ve personally played.
DS is the only one I would rate. The rest are video game equivalent of marvel slop. Excepting fromsoft. Ghost has nice art direction, but is an Ubisoft game at heart.
That’s fair. I was able to look past the generic gameplay because of the art direction and “samurai lol”. It’s a good ubisoft game, but yeah it does follow that formula (ghosts).
Demon Souls and Bloodborne are far and away the best things sony has in its exclusives library.
I like the God of war Reboot and Sequel, and I like The last of Us, but yes they do veer to close to feeling like Marvel in a video game. Especially God of war.
Spiderman and its sequels were movie game cinematic slop dog shit. Seriously who’s idea was it to give Spiderman 2 so many 9s?
That game was boring as fuck.
I think we mostly agree with DS being the only disagreement. I’ve never played a version of TLOU with acceptable performance, but I highly anticipate the day when an acceptable port/emulation of 2 arrives.
The GoW reboots are cool in terms of ideas, I should give them another shot now that the hype has died down. I just wish it had more complex combat. I went from playing dmcV to to the reboot port though, so that might have biased me. I think the real issue I had was how so many mechanics are locked and I had to watch cutscenes written by poor writers to slowly unlock the stuff.
Spider-Man coasts off the movement mechanics, they nailed that aspect. It’s like death stranding for the marvel brained, in that it has flashy but shallow movement that feels good while lacking depth or Ludo-narrative resonance.
I still need to play bloodborne. Apparently the emulator is almost there.
Are the ratchet games good? I loved the originals on ps2.
Edit: oh, and horizon. “Is that a ledge? Maybe I should climb the ledge.” Just constant shallow puzzles and ubi design.
Crazy that Sony and FromSoft just lost the bloodborne code because that’s the only valid reason for not having ported it already
Bloodborne is not an active IP, so even though it would be an easy port, would easily make its money back and would earn them a ton of goodwill, it would not further engagement with the playstation™ brand and as such they don’t actually want people to play it.
Housemarque is owned by Sony now, so Returnal is #1
Good (because they barely qualify as “IPs”): Demon Souls PS3 Bloodborne
Bad (because it’s a pathetic shitty half-assed attempt to turn another companies game into an IP): Demon Souls “Remake”
Who the fuck cares (IP Hell): Everything else Sony makes
It’s such a fucking travesty that Sony won’t port Bloodborne to PC, it would outsell every single other port they’ve done so far on day one and have made a profit that same day, but since it’s not an ongoing IP that furthers investment in the Playstation™ brand they’ll just let one of the best games of all times die a sad death on a dying platform.
Edit: Whoops didn’t mean this to me a response to you specifically.
The Last Guardian is #1. Love how life-like Trico is in it. I do like that the whole game is slowly crawling out of this pit-like fortress thing. It’s not suave or tight like Ico/SOTC because its UI and story are so clunky compared to them but it’s still really fresh otherwise. Hate how people band-wagoned against that game, or at least it seemed like they did, the game was discounted pretty heavily and I got it for like $10 new at one point I think.
I quite like pretty much all of those except TLoU. My favorites are BB and modern GoW. Not included in your list but extremely good: Returnal, Helldivers (been playing since the OG ), and Returnal, which is the best game I’ve played since Bloodborne.
Death Stranding isn’t really a Sony property but I love it

You like spiderman 2?
That was straight garbage and copaganda to boot.
Spider-Man 2 was really fucking good and I don’t remember any copaganda in it, especially compared to the first game. Great combat, movement, story. Mostly fun side content. Bigger than it needed to be but whatever, I enjoyed it start to finish.
If you think Spiderman 2 was that good, you need to play better games (meant with as little offense as possible) the combat was ass and a watered down version of Arkham. (How does spiderman with superhuman strength and could probably cave a normal man’s skull take 10 hits to beat up a simple street thug?).
The side content was terrible lol, what game were you playing bro? Filler crap.
The web swinging was cool but that’s it. The rest of the movement felt stiff, like a typical Sony movie game.
I mean that with as little offense as possible. I’m attacking the game, not you pal
You’re free to enjoy it. I’m just bewildered as to why some people like these slop games that feel more like movies.
Oh ok I guess I didn’t have fun playing it; thank you
If you had fun playing it, that’s fine.
To me it was just not to my taste… and played like cinematic slop.
I still don’t understand why it takes someone with superhuman level strength 10 punches to bring down an average street thug, that always ripped me out of the super hero fantasy.
Shadow of the Colossus will have to be in your top 3 when you play it. You can feel the weight of the game when you play it, from the vibe of the story to how they pulled off something like that on the ps2. Even if you play the bluepoint remake
Forgot about Shadow. Yeah that’s in my top 3
- Knack II
- everything else
Knacks back baby! Dunkey is the only person keeping this game in our collective memories
Death stranding is pretty God tier but also you gotta be on the kojima wavelength so definitely not for everyone.
I just started mgs4 and it’s pretty wild, i think all the other metal gears are playable by non-sony means
The Sly Cooper franchise might be my favorite, all three of em are very dear to my heart and I’m considering getting the PS3 version just to replay the series, they run pretty badly on emulators. I played the first 30 minutes of 4 and it was rough, the character design changes also rubbed me the wrong way.
If it was God tier, everyone would like it and not just a small subset of people who can 'appreciateit’s.,
Glad you enjoyed it though man. I wish I could see what you see in the game
Ah yes “everyone liking it” famously a thing that artists can and should shoot for as a goal. A thing that is possible to achieve.
It’s personal little buddy, I think it’s God tier it does God tier things for me personally you have your own tastes your own priorities. I can only work from my own read just as much as you can only work from yours
Why are you getting mad and being passive aggressive over slop pop culture? jfc.
I literally said I’m glad you enjoyed it and tried to be amicable and you’re still mad. I didn’t insult you.
“Little buddy”
I’m fairly tall. I think if you wanted to be passive aggressive something like ‘chief’ would have worked better than “little buddy” fyi
I was just saying if it was a masterpiece, it would be a lot more revered instead of a small subset of people liking it imo.
Either way, it’s a video game. I’m done worrying about it. I’m glad you liked it pal. I wish I could enjoy it like you do
Ahahaha it worked lol
Have a good day
Weird.
Only played demons souls, and for me that one is a 10/10 (yes I like the remake). The rest I hate because of how much they are responsible for the “games as movies” movement we have seen in AAA games.
The remake is the reason I got a ps5.
Really though, I’m not sure when It became controversial to like the remake. Everyone loved it at launch. Then it seems people slowly started bitching about it.
The only one of these I’ve played was Death Stranding and it had too much action
I could not finish ghosts of tsushima. I have not finished an assassin’s creed game in years either though. I also had to force myself to finish god of war.
The only Sony games of the last 10 years or so that I cared about are Helldivers 1 and 2. I mostly stopped caring for Sony games after the PlayStation 3 and have been basically PC-only since around 2010-2012.
It’s not that I have anything against the mainline Sony games, I just don’t really care much for third-person cinematic single-player games like Uncharted. Not trying to be mean—if you enjoy those games, more power to you.
I’d rather play something like Dominions 6 than spend my money on most cinematic AAA games. Not saying I don’t play AAA games at all, I’m just not a fan of the Sony formula.
I think about half of sonys output I enjoy, and the other half I think is slop.
The problem is they had super star success with naughty dog and the last of us, and now they want to make all their games play exactly the same.
Spiderman 2 feels almost like the last of us with some super hero elements thrown in, God of war feels the same, just with an axe and norse mythology skin.
They’re meant for the most casual of players.
Here is the thing. I could have fun with some of these games. It’s just that I have been playing video games since around 1996, and I have played a lot of games since then, including AAA games.
I actually don’t mind casual games. I have played basic Ubisoft games such as Assassin’s Creed Origins and Far Cry 4.
It’s just that an AAA game needs to be really special for me to consider playing or picking it up these days. Baldur’s Gate 3 would be such an example, but it’s also a very unusual AAA game, being a CRPG and all that.
Just going off your list: I never played Demon Souls, Uncharted, Ratchet+Clank, or Death Stranding, so no comment on those. Well, actually I started Uncharted and felt like I was watching a bad movie where I could make the main character run around and shoot sometimes. Didn’t feel like a game, so I gave up after a couple hours. Might have grown on me, but I didn’t care enough about what I did play to even want it to.
-
I loved Horizon (ZD and FW). It wasn’t perfect, but it very much clicked for me. I really liked the feel and execution of the combat, I liked the world, I liked the main character, I liked the scifi backstory. Did not like the in-game contemporary human/tribe story lines at all though. (Sylens was cool though. RIP Lance Reddick.)
-
Bloodbourne - took a while for me to get into it, but when I was able to “get it” I became addicted and loved it, though also found it very frustrating. However, I now understand why it is so praised and beloved and can mostly agree. I’m glad I decided to try it despite beforehand not wanting to because I was afraid it would be too difficult.
-
God of War - It was definitely well made. Didn’t care for the boss fights at all. I did quite like the feel of the combat, the flow of the controls, which is important to me. Have not played the new-ish sequel. Honestly, I’m having trouble remembering the game and what I thought of it at the time, so I guess not too memorable.
-
Ghosts of Tsushima - I… yeah, I enjoyed it. Mostly. But it was really wearing on me by the end, and I only kept at it due to a sense of obligation and sunk cost. It was fun for a while, but just felt so rote by the end. And all along it felt super gimmicky even for an open world game. It’s hard to summarize why without going into way too much detail. I had issues with the story too.
-
The Last of Us - It had that movie thing going which I do not care for. However, I was able to get past that and enjoy it mostly. It did pass the time ok. Did not “feel good” to play though. Felt clunky and often tedious. Glad I played it, but think it was grossly overrated. The much-lauded story is just mediocre and cliche at best. Didn’t play the sequel.
-
Spiderman - I admit I really liked swinging around the city. It felt good. But beyond that, fuck that game. Disgusting copaganda. Up with which I will not put. Like, Last of Us and Tsushima may have had their own kinds of reactionary themes, but Spiderman felt like a Clinton liberal and thin blue line chud set aside their differences so they could come together and make that abomination of setting and plot. Never finished it.
Lol glad someone else fucking hated the spiderman games… they’re slop dude
