I really suggest talking to a therapist. I’m in a similar stage of life going through similar relationship things. Just in the past few months of seeing my therapist I feel way less underwater and helpless. I’m making plans and I see the whole situation in a different, clearer way. It might sound obvious but being able to think clearly is crucial to making smart decisions and getting yourself out of tough situations like this.

I have bazzite running on an HP EliteDesk 705 G5 mini PC with a 3400G in it that I got used from eBay for pretty cheap, a little over $100. It handles 1440p 120Hz, it’s max output resolution at 120Hz, and 4k 60Hz just fine with steam remote play from my desktop on LAN. It also does up to GameCube emulation really well if you’re into that kind of thing. I’d really only consider upgrading from this if I wanted 4K 120Hz in the future, or if HDR becomes worth it, but the 1440p 120Hz experience is great.

That’s super cool, like a technological aviary. I’m imagining a Ghibli-like scene with uavs starting their day, streaming out of the attic in the early morning with melancholy piano in the background. They’re up in the attic bantering like the attic of the post office in Baldurs Gate 3. That’s a great detail!

Whatever you’re trying to look at, terrestrial to terrestrial link or for satcom (or drone tracking antennas!) is common. The dishes with an offset feed like I liked to have the main beam pointed up relative to the perpendicular of the dish. So you may see it tilted up but not straight into the sky. This is a common arrangement for things like satellite tv service which are quite common and often repurposed for ham and other uses. You’ll also see a cantenna feed on center fed dishes, think like a big deep space dish or a radio telescope type. Those do point perpendicular to the dish.

You’ll also commonly see a yagi like that on some kind of rotor so it can point around in azimuth, and sometimes elevation. Here’s a reference on a similar tower to what you’ve depicted.

Also is that a drone swarm flying out of the top window? That’s so cool!

I think this looks excellent, if I drove by that house I’d definitely think a ham lived there. Probably the first door I’d knock on if I were in desperate need of a vacuum tube. The inclusion of many types and sizes of antennas also reinforces that this is some kind of core site for the mesh network infrastructure that this guy is maintaining. I think a cantenna fed dish or a dipole strung across some trees would fit nicely in this scene as well, especially if you’re looking for an amateur or distressed quality. This setup looks nicely put together and organized.

I’ve been playing Pillars of Eternity after giving up on Pathfinder King Maker in frustration. It’s been very cool! A lot of lore to learn though and I feel like it really needs my full attention to get the most out of it.

Another option is if the machine has a serial port that might be dumping useful info as it boots. A serial to USB cable is really cheap and you can read it with PuTTY.

If you don’t want to deal with the used market (which might be necessary to get super cheap) the Intel Arc a310 cards have HDMI/Display Port and are slot powered so no PCIe power needed. They’re also sought after for their quite good video transcoding performance so reselling it after you’re done would be pretty easy.

Why include an ML accelerator in a microprocessor that runs at 60 kHz? I can’t imagine any ML algorithm is appropriate for something that constrained.
