The reason you see little official pushback from within the US is because things are far more dire here than you might imagine, as an outsider. The US Republican Party (aka GOP - Trump’s party) is currently in control of all three branches of the US federal government. Ever since Trump took office, it’s been one step toward constitutional crisis after another, and apparently the Republicans don’t give a shit about rule of law when it comes to policing their own. The Democrats (our nominal “opposition” party) can’t really do shit right now except at the local level. We have an unelected CEO compromising every branch of our nation’s government with all the Republicans looking the other way. To be honest, I’m past the point of expecting a fair election in four years. As an American who grew up learning to value the ideals of personal freedom and liberty, to see what is happening to my country leaves me OUTRAGED.

1. Had 8 years to see exactly what Trump was like, and
2. AREN’T wealthy business owners

Eh, on Lemmy, users can really easily switch to a home instance that isn’t doing that, so it’s a little more self-correcting.

Download and install a torrent client. I use Qbittorrent. Start downloading the files from a torrent or direct link. Torrents can be much faster for downloading mass data, if there are a lot of people seeding. Once you have it downloaded, keep the torrent client running. You will seed automatically to others downloading.

Are you really waiting to be spoon fed? I never said everything would be gravy. I said if I was honestly certain I was going to die by staying in my state, I’d fucking leave NOW without waiting for jack shit. Everyone is going to have their own support and ways of surviving, and that’s something to think about only AFTER I’m in a safe location. This is still going to be difficult, and you’ll still have to actually think for yourself. But at least you won’t be actively hunted anymore.
