Don’t put if off is my advice. Imagine putting it off last Trump election and having so many years of dysphoria. I had friends who held off for years and they regretted it.

Issue is that some sites just refuse to work saying you need to install a supported browser. Changing the user agent fixes this.
The crazy part is that the threat is real. Imagine not voting for Harris in the US because of perceived antitrust fears and ending up with 6 Trump Supreme Court justices who spend the next 40 years turning the USA into a Christian nationalist state.
What about gross speeding or drunk driving?
I think automation is an acceptable path. But I think we still would need some organization with legal authority. We can’t just fine people later for drunk driving. They need to be stoped asap even against their will. Same goes for people grossly speeding or even elderly people who can’t drive safely even though they think they can. Given your other posts this organization can be community lead. This being said any community lead organization with such a legal mandate would just be police under another name.
I feel safer with a German police officer than with an American one. This being said I can’t imagine an alternative tool. Anyone given the tools needed to stop and punish dangerous drivers would just be police by another name.
To be fair in Europe and even in the USA people don’t get shot when driving away.
If you go on YouTube and look at sovereign citizen videos you will see that even in the USA they just chase you down and maybe ram your car. Rough but not being shot for driving away.
In Germany they would just follow you from a safe distance till you eventually stop then arrest you for fleeing and dangerous driving.
Is Lemmy full of sovereign citizens now days? In all countries when you commit traffic violations you get a ticket.
Police do a lot wrong but enforcing driving safety is not one of those.
Ok. I’m curious now though. Do you choose to suffer unnecessarily as a joke on yourself? Is there a reason you choose to suffer when you don’t have to?
Like I can’t relate to your choice at all here and am very curious.
Ultimately it’s your life yah.
But I can’t help but think that adult humans don’t need to do penance and suffer for a year just because they made such a small mistake. It’s like a 12th century religious act.
I believe that adult humans can just learn not to do something without religious style self imposed suffering. If I burn my hand on the stove I don’t need to keep the wound in pain for a year in order to remember not to burn my hand again.
This all being said I am a humanist materialist. If people come from a spiritual background where self imposed suffering helps the soul I can see why they would do such a thing.
Hey. I’m going to ask why? Like if you are extremely tight financially I get it. But why make yourself suffer every day if it’s not needed? It’s going to be annoying and a slight negative to your day every day.
I took the time to read through this new source. I think this proves the point that the quote is taken out of context. Most importantly it’s not from him. Secondly it’s from a department under his command. If we read the context we see that the quote should be understood as “what could we possibly say to it appears that Israel is no committing war crimes? It’s obvious that they are.” Here is the quote with the context.
The outgoing Dutch Prime Minister is sweeping politically unwelcome information about Israel, such as possible human rights violations, under the rug so as not to offend the United States and protect his prospects for his future job as NATO leader, NRC reports based on an anonymous letter a group of civil servants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote to the Court of Appeal in The Hague.
“A request from the Ministry of General Affairs to the Legal Affairs Directorate at Foreign Affairs reads as follows,” NRC quoted from the officials’ letter: “What can we say so that it appears that Israel is not committing war crimes?”
Rutte and his Ministers have spoken out about the war, which has cost the lives of around 24,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis so far, multiple times, urging Israel to act within the international rule of law. The Netherlands has never called for a ceasefire, only sticking to appeals for “humanitarian pauses.”
The department’s not saying “please Mr USA what should I say?”. It’s saying “how can we possibly phrase this such that the USA will go along while at the same time not just lying”
I think the difference between the two is the difference between Russian interest level propaganda and geopolitical situations as they are. Aka the U.S. having a disproportionate influence worldwide.
I looked threw the link and don’t see anything that supports the infographic. If anything the article emphasizes how hesitant NL is to support Israel here.
I mean it’s close but it’s no source that can justify the infographic.
I am a bit skeptical this actually happened. The infographic is from a known Russian interests troll and just gives a “trust me bro” source.
I could be proven wrong though.
If I was teaching a media literacy class I would include this infographic as a good example of something that looks like it might have a source but actually does not.
You say most of the word should be DC I till you realize that you need a 3cm thick cable to move 2000w 30m. DC is really bad outside of low or ultra high power transmission.
Idk. Like all the usb ports were capped at like 5v 1a with shorted data lines. I always used my own charger just because it would take 6 hours to charge my phone using the built in usb plug.
Back in the days of windows xp and Alcohol 120% it didn’t. I remember having like 12 virtual disk drives each with an independent iso just to avoid swapping disks.
Fair. I would say you don’t need most of those. Just try uBO alone. Add others as needed. But realistically you should not have to. All you should have to do is add a block list to uBO.
Probably all of them. Germany is really not ideal for solar in terms of weather, yet they are installed by many people all over the place, even today. With the cheaper prices things will get even better.
Germany is already over 50% renewable. :)
