Oooof, I feel that. I started Malazan back at the end of June, currently 2/3rds through Book 7, “Reaper’s Gale”.

It’s far less dark that books 2 and 3, but it’s still sooooo… I don’t know, not as many payoffs as previous books. Feeling some Malazan fatigue with 3 books to go

Every day is a new day, and the old ones are gone and past. Yes, those days helped form the way you turned out: but you’ve got a bright new start, and now You get to decide how you turn out. It gets better, especially as long as you want it to, and work to make it so, even just the tiniest bit each day.

Also, therapy is always recommended.

Found it good but slow, and a bit unfocused. Only 6 episodes planned for season one though? That’s kind of phoning it in

Anything that has an intransparent, engagement driving, ad laden algorithm that determines what you do and don’t see is thoroughly unappealing to me. At least now that I’m a little more tech savvy and anti-corporate.

Hear hear. Under the guise of Engagement, corporations have weaponized algorithms to maximize the time you spend on their platforms, and it’s absolutely been a race to the bottom, prioritizing Outrage above all else. Hard pass, thanks.

Corporate goals don’t align with that of users like they used to.

Expeditions have way more bugs than standard play, which is a bit of a shame. I had to exit the Fishing expedition because my save file kept freezing, gave up on Expeditions ever since, which sucks since I finished the first twelve.

Keep in mind though, multiple bases built over the same area may not be trolling- other players may not even see your base when they’re building theirs, until they log back in to find a base on top of their own; that’s what happened to me on Expedition 12

So many conflicting feelings.

• Book 1 was okay, not too bad, I was curious where it’d go
• Hated book 2, it was way too dark and I saw the ending coming from a third of the way in
• Book 3 was also WAY too dark, an absolute downer
• Book 4 had an amazing character arc over the first third, the rest was pretty okay
• Loved book 5. Absolutely a masterpiece
• Seriously enjoyed book 6
• Book 7 is very good so far!

Currently on Book 7 of the Malazan series by Steven Erikson, “Reaper’s Gale”. Started book 1 back in June, still working my way through them. The whole series improved tremendously after Book 3 finished, it’s been a heck of a ride so far.

Yup, I also got strong YA vibes from Babel. Got some other vibes too, but those are spoilers ;)
