Perhaps you missed this: the meme says “if U.S. land mass were divided like U.S. wealth.” It’s a simile; it doesn’t mean that this really is the actual ratio that U.S. land is divided.

✊ fight back
the news about deepseek came out several weeks before the stock market noticed.
The world’s largest semiconductor foundry, and one of the primary reasons the U.S. maintains a hold on Taiwan. There are rumours that the US has a plan to blow it up in case of Chinese invasion, that’s how valuable it is. So this quite a reversal of strategy.
The funny thing is, this was unveiled a while ago and I guess investors only just noticed it.
Handmaid’s tale.
(It should go without saying, but I obviously don’t agree with Poilievre. I’m just noticing he seems to be taking a much less agressively anti-trans stance than other conservative party members.)
I read that, it’s amusing but the logic is flawed if sex is defined chromosomally. (Though if it’s chromosomal, there’s no point in defining it as being “at conception.”) If it is defined chromosomally, then people with abnormal sex genotypes (e.g. Swyer syndrome) will be male by this logic, which I think not even Trump would agree with. So there definitely is a flaw with this definition.
I’m not trans, but I am an ally and the reason for all of this is transparent. You’re a scapegoat. But you’re not alone, so survive and weather the storm.
The fact that neo-nazis are going to interpret this as a sign of support is what makes this really dangerous, and that’s what matters. Musk’s coy responses on twitter/x basically proves he wants this outcome. Whether there’s a small chance this wasn’t intentional in the first place doesn’t really matter. If you want to ban me for this opinion, please go ahead and do it now.
I’m well aware lol, I just think you did it better
I still think it’s possible this was unintentional, and even more likely that it was intended to toe the line of plausible deniability. When I show this to people in real life, they are unsure, so I don’t think it’s as clean-cut and undeniable as people on social media are saying it is.
You can find people in a good mood, but not on Lemmy :P
thank you for being the only person here with a good sense of humour, @[email protected] could take notes :P
good idea, i’ll go do that
While the final pose is practically identical to a Nazi solute, the motion is completely different. Hitler’s lifts straight up, like a crane; Musk’s sweeps out from the heart. That’s why I was not sure.
I still think ~20% chance he was not channeling a Nazi salute here and it was just a coincidentally similar gesture. If it was just a coincidentally similar gesture, it’s still likely he’d have repeated it, so the fact that he repeated it doesn’t sway me much.
Seriously? You approve of this dirtbag enough to use him as a reaction image?
Okay, I reviewed what the actual Nazi salute looks like. Having done this, I actually do think this strongly resembles a Nazi salute. I think p>80% this was intentional.
To me, the Victorian era doesn’t feel that long ago. It had gothic horror novels, root beer, telephones, and cameras. I was recently talking with somebody who personally knew somebody who was a pioneer in the 1860s. In comparison, Ancient Rome or Mesopotamia feels really freaking long ago.
