I guess it depends on the user… I have more problems (if at all possible) configuring and maintaining a windows installation than linux. That’s why I ditched it completely, as thankfully the last thing that kept a windows installation on my PC is basically solved by Valve…

I mean it’s not extremely far off compared to Ultralight hiking, you can still be hygienic (like often washing clothes), of course though you’re not winning parfume contests along the way… It’s a tradeoff to make compared to having a lot of uncomfortable weight to carry around.

That’s noble, certainly, and I actually hope that a lot of reasonable people stay, in case the democracy is not yet bunked, and there is hope to at least turn it around.

But honestly there’s like roughly half of USA living as idiocrats, I wouldn’t want to be part of that, and I value my mental health more than watching a real-live shit-show degrading a once respectful nation. The damage Trump will do to society this time (again) is probably already too high for me to just give up this lost country, and declare it as lost cause. I’m lucky I don’t have to make that decision though, but just reading abroad about Trump basically everyday is already daunting (and has global effects, like climate-change).

Honestly unfortunately mostly unrealistic: a systemic chage towards deliberative democracy (not just USAs broken electoral democracy) would be the best according to most political science. It’s (way to) slowly happening in some European states (so the right shift may reverse that trend again). This indirection vie simple voting tends to lean towards populism and manipulation. Which got unfortunately incredibly obvious in the presidential election…

As “hardcore-left” as I am, I just cannot fathom, being so dumb to not vote “to show the dems”. The policies of bad Republican presidents hurt us till today. Think about Reagan vastly accelerating the gap between rich and poor, or Nixon with his failed war drugs.
