#FamilyMan been married for >15 years and have two daughters. Those three girls are my greatest love on this planet.
I consider myself a #GNU Evangelist. Learning about what #FreeSoftware was, including GNU/Linux, opened my eyes to so many things: governments aren’t the only ones stealing individual rights, I know so much less about computers than I thought I did, the idea of code, I can make a difference without having to know anyone particular.
I’m employed as contract Engineer in the Metal industry. My workplace is not yet unionized, but I’m hoping to fix that. #Union member of the #IWW IU440. I don’t have an engineering degree. After discovering Free Software I took my political scientist butt and found a call center job that paid for me to go to Community College to study Software Engineering, where I learned that I liked the idea of coding a lot more than I liked coding. The blessings of God put some great opportunities in my lap at just the right time.
I’m a #Libertarian and have been for over 20 years. The love of libertarianism is what lead me to first to a BS in #political science and later to falling in love with Free Software. These days I lean toward the left side of the libertarian spectrum including being a member of the Libertarian #Socialist Caucus of the Libertarian Party (LSC-LP). Sometimes I call myself a #LibSoc.
I’m a huge #sports fan, but don’t following any particular sport/team super closely. Lately I’ve been getting into #Cricket in addition to my other passions of Professional #Wrestling, Lower Division North American #Soccer, NHL & College #hockey, #baseball #olympics & #rugby (union and #RugbyLeauge). My whole life used to be American #Football, but now-a-days I can’t stand it anymore than I can basketball.
I’m a #BornAgain #Christian, accepting #Jesus as my savior at age 9. Received #Believers Baptism at age 18. Received the baptism of the #HolySpirit as evident in speaking in #tougnes later that year. The #Spirit lead me to the #Catholic #Church at age 20 where I was confirmed at the Easter Vigil. I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ in #recovery from lust. #XA #SA #CR Currently in the very early stages of discernment for joining the #Ecumenical order of #Fransicans (#OEF).
@Megaman_EXE @alyaza I mean its pretty easy to understand, most people don’t want to watch women’s sports. This past year with women’s basketball is the first time that’s moved the neddle at all, and that is mostly about racists who wanted to watch the “great white hope” Catlin Clark.
@P4ulin_Kbana I’m a good parent. The kids are with us all the time, if they were doing something they weren’t supposed to I’d know. Honestly, I tink I’d rather they be doing something nuferious than watching annoying kids videos, alas they prefer to watch the later too often watching other kids play scream and play with toys that we already bought that they never play with.
@LEVI TPM is f’n annoying. Remember when back in the day the Free Software movement was actually about sharing everything, including getting people to not use passwords.
@Nyarlathotep @anytimesoon I mean, I do the same thing people have done for a century, I listen to the radio.
@Infynis OK I edited the OP to remove the preview and the link is now there used to work so that when I included it you’d get a hyperlink to the webpage from the title in the lemmy post, but something appears to have broke between lemmy and friendica federation.
@piccolo well sure, but “Communism with Chinese characteristics” is a line that the CCP has used to control the working class in mainland China for decades.
@anytimesoon Why do you want some computer recommending music for you? Wouldn’t you rather your friends and shit? #FunkWhale
@goatsarah @Coskii @True is there a particular case about the muppets I am unaware of?
@JackGreenEarth @fossilesque it likely is not free as in freedom, but non-free, as in free beer.
@humble_pete_digger @Nito Odysee isn’t owned by Google. It is one of a number of block-chained based de-centralized video sharing platforms utilizing the LBRY network.
@deegeese @TheDarksteel94 you understand it was a Chinese site first, right, and that Americans decided to use it? The Chinese government owns 50% of every company in China, that’s “Communism with Chinese characteristics”
@Infynis hmm…it looks like somehow my link in the OP isn’t showing on midwest.social candgnews.com/news/miller-advo…
@ByteOnBikes 100% of people die, so 100% of people who toke die.
The YouTube kids app is so incredibly useless in order to comply with government regulations that all our kids use our accounts. Which also sucks.
@DemBoSain legally a notary doesn’t even need a stamp. the guy i usually use doesn’t. I mean i looks cool and all but its not necessary.
@abbadon420 @Flatworm7591 but pirates are anti-facist too.
@Megaman_EXE Maybe I didn’t explain myself well. Most enjoyers of sport prefer to watch the best athletes. This is nearly always men. That’s really the only reason that separate women’s leagues ever got created. Many major sports, MLB, NFL, NHL, etc. don’t actually have any particular requirements among gender, but the people who do want to see women participate have needed to create separate women’s leagues for hockey, football, etc. because women haven’t been able to compete at men’s levels. And I say it’s easy to understand because looking at numbers of ticket sales and television viewing make it pretty clear that far fewer people are interested in watching women’s sports.
Some claim that its about exposure and marketing and not a true preference of sports fans, but even in more equal playing fields, like Crickets’ “The Hundred” (English francise limited over Francise League) where every side has a women’s and men’s team and ever game is a double header in which both women and men play on the same date at the same location with the same ticket, 3 hours before the other, nearly half the audience doesn’t get there until near the men’s game starts (originally they actually had some times the men went first and sometimes the women went first and when men’s game where first the attendance during the women’s match was even worse). Similarly, the Olympics, which is fairly equally promoted, attendance at men’s competitions is much higher with only a few exceptions, such as gymnastics and figure skating. Some claim equestrienne is the best Olympic sport as it’s the only one where men and women compete as individual athletes directly against each other (of course others say it’s the worst claiming the horse not the athlete is the one doing all the work).
