Interesting. This particular script I’m just double clicking to run, but I did name it script.sh. If I were to run it in the terminal, I would just do ./script.sh

I have studiously avoided learning any bash scripting for the 17 years I’ve used Linux, so all I can say is good job! Actually just today I found a command that I needed to get a certain appimage to run without crashing, and I remembered enough that I was able to make it into a script (I struggle with whether it’s !# or #!). Having just done it today, I can confirm you don’t need to include ‘/bin/bash’, just FYI. I believe that is assumed.

Yeah the decline of union membership is what I feel really limits working class political power in the US. We’ve basically ceded all our power (I understand the reasons are not so simple), and our concept of solidarity. I don’t know how we can really build any persistent (and effective) movement without organized labor.

I think it’s better to keep it simple for new users. Tell them it doesn’t matter which server since that is theoretically true in a general sense. No need to overwhelm them with all the asterisks. Once they start engaging, they’ll learn the nuances and can change instances.

Gotcha. I feel like I learned a lot of Linux stuff by standing up and configuring servers (log analysis, iptables, systemd…). I guess that’s the stuff I’m interested in though. I’ve never cared about compiling packages or tweaking the kernel for example.

Maybe you could narrow the field a bit by identifying projects that need help (have actively expressed desire). That could help avoid the Nextcloud issue you mentioned. Limit the contest to that list of projects.

I use Ninja at work, and all I know is there is no remote desktop support for Linux. You can install the Linux agent, and you can run remote terminal commands. I set up RustDesk to remote control one of the few Linux machines here.

There’s an old app on FDroid called AdminControl that let’s you set this up on other ROMs. Basically just disables biometrics for lock screen.

Sure, if you or a consortium control a majority of voting shares, you can make the company do whatever you want. Doesn’t seem very realistic to me.
