  • It’s just that what Zelensky is doing to us is infinitely worse than what would probably be “under Russian rule”.

I guess that’s true, I’m not a fan of forced conscription and punishable desertion either. But if Russia wins, have you escaped forced conscription for good? Or will you be forced to fight in Putin’s next conquest?

For now, you have a chance to build your own country still. Yes there’s a lot of corruption and many, many other issues. Yes, the GDP per capita is pretty weak so Ukrainians are better off working abroad. But you still get a say in matters. Zelenskyy the comedian was elected because people were tired of the status quo. Has he fixed everything? Probably not, but he can still be replaced. In the modern day Russian empire you either vote for Putin or your vote doesn’t count.

Crimean Tatars - I’m not very familiar with this topic so I’m not sure what exactly you’re referring to (I guess it’s the deportations?), but I’m sure it was also indeed a bad thing.

Yes, I meant the deportations. Russia deported every single one of them because they saw them as a geopolitical threat in Crimea. Here in the Baltics at least it was mostly people with land or nasty back-stabbing neighbours that were deported, not specific ethnic groups generally.

Anyway, I’m glad to see you’re not a Russian shill, but an actual person with a real view to the entire issue. Obviously I support your right to not go to war against Russia. But I think just laying down arms isn’t a solution either. Of course, I have a vested interest of my own. The more your brothers and sisters weaken Russia, the safer I am too.

  • Otherwise we might as well hand him all of Europe on a silver platter.

And sadly I believe that a lot of Americans would prefer isolationism and are fine with this, as they’d get to cut military spending.

Of course, Europeans buy American goods and vice versa. If Russia ruled over all of Europe, Putin could just stop all trade with the US as a giant middle finger.

  • I reckon they might be using a lot of Windows specific libraries, making any porting a real pain in the ass. And when you’re in that space, unfortunately people just have to choose the OS that goes with their applications, not the other way around.

It’s literally easier to start an entirely new CAD/CAM project and make that cross-platform. Unfortunately, that’s a 7 or 8 figure proposition to get started as well (probably 8 for a polished product that can pull proper market share).

I haven’t kept up with his stuff but according to some article I read, he’s been essentially crippled for a few years now? Like had to be in a wheelchair 2 years ago, then vomited so much blood at one point that the fight was pushed by 6 months… He’s not healthy for an 80 year old, much less 58.

  • There’s no pot involved here, you put it in the mug, but ideally you also use a super fine grind so it stays in the mug usually

“everyone else is drinking weak coffee, I make the real stuff” kinda like Terry was certain that his ways were best even though alternatives already existed.

    Oh fair enough

To be fair I didn’t mean to insinuate that it’s manlier to drink literal mud, it’s just how my mom always made it for herself when I was a kid and I just… learned to like it. It’s very much an acquired taste. But yes, there’s always a moment of pride when people say “wtf how can you drink this shit” :)

  • Formerly Gentoo, now TumbleWeed user. But this chart doesn’t align

I put the ground coffee (a lot of it) in the mug and pour hot water. Stir it a bit later, then the grounds stay put in the bottom usually. I’ve been told I drink asphalt, but then I just feel like everyone drinks very weak coffee. I do this because I want it to be a quick process, I don’t want to buy a fancy machine that requires maintenace, and I want my coffee to have a proper kick.

    What distro does this mean?
