Thanks, to be honest, I’ve never had either IRL 🤦

I listen to the Diablo 2 & 3 or Skyrim OST when reading.
I think the spices make a huge difference. Especially their freshness. My wife manages an expat community here in Germany, and we sometimes have culinary exchanges. Some people join these events just to eat, I join to cook and learn :) we cooked so far Indian, Afghan, Turkish, German, Romanian.
I can’t think of anything else tbh, I mean curry & rice & naan work beautifully, I don’t want to break the balance :)
Hell yeah :) I mentioned in other comments, but my kids love them, so I started leaving them in.
I buy mine, frozen. I don’t have that much time to make naan from scratch :) Just added some butter, crushed garlic, fresh (frozen) parsley and coriander. 2 minutes in the oven.
I used to take the crushed seeds and bay leaves out, but then my kids would go around my kitchen and munch of them after taking them out of the pot. So I just started leaving them in 🤷
No, I’m afraid I didn’t. I bought the naan ready made, frozen. Just added some butter, crushed garlic, fresh (frozen) parsley and coriander.
I don’t have a recipe exactly… it was one of those “what’s in the pantry” creations. Here’s what I used:
I roasted the whole spices for a minute with a couple bay leaves in some peanut oil, added and sauteed the chicken for a couple minutes, added the chopped onions, garlic, ginger. I leave my spices in, my kids love to crunch on the seeds, but you can take them out before adding the chicken.
When the onions are translucent, add tomato paste, when it starts to simmer, add coconut milk, leave on medium heat until the chicken is ready (about 20-30 minutes). 5 minutes before taking off the head, add chickpeas (juice too, depending on how thick was your tomato puree) and ground spices, salt to taste.
For the rice, I used basmati, one cup in a pot of water (use the knuckle method), boil with half teaspoon salt on medium heat until water evaporated, and the rice has a bit of tooth still. I added maybe 50g of butter on top, and covered the pot and put it away until the curry was ready. Before serving, lightly mix the melted butter in (careful not to break the grains).

That’s pretty much it.
Check out crowdsec. Like fail2ban, but with crowdsourced lists on top.
I did not know about opencloud.eu, and now I’m intrigued. I was always looking for a simple Google Drive alternative, but Nextcloud was too much. Will definitely keep an eye on it.
Got a .cc for my home-lab, and a very cheap .li for a website I’m building. Other than that i got .de, .eu and .com for my name and my kids names. Don’t know if they’ll ever use them, but meh, a .de is a few cents per month.
oh wow, very informative, thank you! (solid, hard belly for me)
i did have some blood tests back in december. everything was within parameters for someone my age & gender.
i’ll try the calories / carbs counting. based on how much i eat, i should be able to add it all up at the end of the day. i remember 10-15 years ago i dropped the sugar from my coffee and also stopped eating bread for a few weeks, and i dropped a few kg. i do eat veggies, it’s not just protein with rice. my kids love a salad with olive oil and lemon juice, and my stir fries and curries also have plenty of them. but noted!
thanks a lot for the tips!
thanks! i am trying to, i got a large refillable bottle, but “i can’t be bothered” to refill it when it’s empty, my hyper focus keeps me glued to my chair… if i’m thirsty, i just take another cold coffee sip… 🤦♂️
thanks! i commute once or twice per week to the office, and that’s some train, some walking. i average 5k steps per day, but with 10k when I go to the office. yesterday i did just under 1k.
i did check in with a specialist regarding my sleeping issues. it’s… complicated, but i’m working on it, part medication, part cpap machine :)
sorry for hijacking, i am also interested in the subject, commenting here to hopefully get some info. i’m 174cm / 84kg. i wear medium clothes, but my beer muscle shows up, it’s quite big. even through a sweater.
i don’t exercise (i work in it, from home mostly), but also, i barely eat. today i had 3 coffees (no sugar, little milk), some leftover stir fry (veggies, chicken, mie noodles) and an apple, and that’s common. i don’t eat sweets or junk food.
i cook almost every day, usually curries & rice, stir fry, pizza/pasta, soups and stews, but i rarely eat myself. i switch daily between chicken/pork/seafood/tofu/legumes for protein, but there’s always rice or pasta or bread.
i drink a couple beers in a week (on average), i drink very little water throughout the day, maybe half a liter.
i sleep very little too, about 5h on average (less during the week, more on weekends).
where should i start? what’s the most blatant issue on my list? i know, all, but… what would be the first?
Mid 20s? You’re barely out of your teenage years, of course you can. Now if anyone has some tips for mid 40s…
Yeah, it got kinda messy. My kids were smarter than me so they added sauces as they went :)
