  • The only thing I disagree with here is Win8 being apparently better than Win10.

Win8 was really damn annoying to use without a touchscreen, and while Win8.1 did help, Win10 was by far the better implementation of PC Metro IMO.

Having said that, Win11 is exactly where it needs to be. It’s all of Win10’s worst traits cranked up to 11 with a heaping of it’s own bullshit and spyware on top

  • Oh boy, here we go again…

Will the Government succeed in their age ban, or will they learn (once again) that they’re just not that effective.

You tell kids, especially teens, that they can’t use social media, they’re gonna want to use it more - and they will bypass any restrictions you put in their way.

Similar to what I said about Australia, it’s like how CoD is meant to be 18+ yet somehow still full of prepubescent squeakers who all apparently fucked your mother last night and have Dads who work for Xbox.

It would be far better to engage parents/schools in educating kids on how to more responsibly use social media and to critically analyse information - or alternatively force social media companies to implement better safeguards for kids who do end up on there, rather than play an endless and desperate cat and mouse race against them.

  • It’s certainly an odd situation to behold, and the thought of getting with someone twice my age makes me feel gross, but they’re both legally adults and appear to be happy with the arrangement, so I guess there isn’t all that much to do but wish her the best and get used to the new son-in-law.

Having said that, 65 isn’t all that old for an OAP, so I hope for both their sakes that there is more to it than her being just his sugar baby - I can’t imagine decades of loveless marriage to be good for anyone.

  • When Entrekin’s predecessor died while still in office, all the money in the food provision account went to his estate — as state law dictated, a county official told NPR. Entrekin had to borrow $150,000 to keep the inmates fed. He was paying down that debt for years"

I’d feel bad for Entrekin going into debt over this, if it weren’t for the fact he went into debt exactly because of someone else abusing…

“Alabama Law is clear regarding my personal financial responsibilities of feeding inmates. Until the legislature acts otherwise, the Sheriff must follow the current law.”

Ahem, Sorry, “lawfully abiding by” the exact same laws that Entrekin is making bank from too. How else does someone with a salary of $93,000 afford a $1.7 million property??

    Oh and…

Lawyer Aaron Littman, at the Southern Center for Human Rights, said in a January statement that the practice of pocketing leftover funds was a “dubious interpretation” of the law that “raises grave ethical concerns, invites public corruption, and creates a perverse incentive to spend as little as possible on feeding people who are in jail.” He argues the sheriffs are supposed to manage the funds, not personally profit from them.

Damn right. Nobody should be able to profiteer like these Sheriffs do from what is meant to feed inmates. They may be prisoners, but they still deserve to be fed like people.

  • Welcome Anon to the confusing gameshow of “Is she flirting or is that just how she is with friends!” /s

I kinda want to know what Anon and his “female coworkers” thinks counts as flirting. Simply being nice to someone and having fun talking to them isn’t flirting, as much as some guys might like to think it is. Now if she was a more touchy person, I can see how that’d be mistaken, as being touchy is also a common way of flirting.

Though find it odd that she waited until the very last minute to ask if her boyfriend could come. And also, guessing “I’m no longer interested” is paraphrased, cause nobody on 4Chan is mature enough to not make things incredibly uncomfortable at work after this.

  • Soltanov then described natural gas as a “transitional fuel”, adding: “We will have a certain amount of oil and natural gas being produced, perhaps forever.”

Azerbaijan pledging to limit emissions with one hand while striking fossil fuel deals with the other. Betraying the world to make a quick buck.

Also makes sense that they’d be delusional enough to think their gas money is gonna last forever. What does they think nonrenewable means? This isn’t Minecraft where you can just keep digging basically forever.

The BBC has also seen emails between the COP29 team and the fake investors.

In one chain, the team discusses a $600,000 (£462,000) sponsorship deal with a fake company in return for the Socar introduction and involvement in an event about “sustainable oil and gas investing” during COP29.

Also, trying to imply there is any such thing as “sustainable oil and gas” is heinous. It will run out, if this money grubbing doesn’t run us out first.
