Your proposal is equivalent to just letting bots completely control the internet. It kills it. We either want an internet or we don’t.

That hasn’t been true for a long time. Filtering bots has increasingly become more difficult, expensive, and sophisticated. Not to mention that there are still plenty of state sponsored bad actors using real people and hybrid approaches.

After a decade of watching the GIMP community and leadership refuse obvious UI changes insisting it’s just “different” as well insisting on a name we can’t deal with in schools I’m not convinced they’re even serious anymore. My new hope is for the Graphite project to get where it wants to be.

There’s a reason gimp forums are full of first time artists posting pony’s while every competitor open or not is trying new things. There is some new young devs adding amazing things to GIMP (finally), I hope they can steer this into better waters but I’m beyond sceptical.

Significantly better with real adjustment layers IMO. Gimp markets as a photo editor but almost all Linux photographers are using DarkTable at this point.

Not really if you actually try to match the screen too. Good colour accuracy is expensive. It’s the best part of their products. If someone doesn’t need that then yeah, definitely better options.

Easy to avoid on Macs. Harder on phones for non-technical types. The bigger issue with Apple is I think getting data out of iCloud should you want to do something else. Their proprietary formats and databases (especially for photos) is kind of a nightmare.

Examples? Not at all my experience. I love my Linux boxes but every MacBook I’ve owned has lasted 10 years and generally is quick until near the end of that period. My iPhones have also all lasted longer than my Android phones with considerably more updates and security patches (supposedly this will be more on par now if Google doesn’t cancel yet another program).

In Canada when your friends get bullied you say or do something. There’s some of you, but it’s mighty silent. These protests should be huge, since when are Americans passive?

Hey man. They’re posting on social media that they’re sorry. You know. Thoughts and prayers! Must mean something cause they get lots of likes. Seems to be a small handful in each city that care enough to actually go outside and protest.

More UX than UI. The entire on-boarding process is hard on Mastodon. Who is on there? How do we find them, etc. it’s all rather nebulous. BlueSky has been innovative with some of their ideas. Things like starter packs are simple but greatly help new users get going. It’s shocking other social networks have not thought of them.
