  • This is nothing new, people expect religion not to be part of the “professional” environment. Dunno if VS code applies.

At the office (big corp) they don’t call it the “Christmas Party”, it’s “the holiday party”. They put lights and stuff up but no more Christmas trees/stars etc… not everyone celebrates christmas so that’s fine by me. If Microsoft wants to put a little santa hat on their product that’s fine by me too. If I was using some service based in Mexico and they put a little hat on a product for cinco de mayo i wouldn’t care. Christmas has other implications so it might be different, dunno

  • Big businesses know, they even ask people like me to add extra measures in place. I like to call it the concorde effect. Youre trying to make a plane that can shove air out of the way faster than it wants to move, and this takes an enormous amount of energy that isn’t worth the time save, or the cost. Even if you have higher airspeed when it works, if your plane doesn’t make it to destination it isn’t “faster”.

We hear a lot about the downsides of AI, except that doesn’t fit the big corpo narrative and people don’t care enough really. If youre just a consumer who has no idea how this really works, the investments companiess make into shoving it everywhere makes it seem like it’s not a problem and it looks like there’s only AI hype and no party poopers.

  • All this relies on retcon, which makes no sense. Easy to just say it in your corner though. I did read the article, but that doesn’t fit your narrative. You also had to add that i’m “mad” so it spins your way, when it’s others having to attack me direcly instead of making points. Nothing about my comment implies i’m mad except you spinning it that way.

Youre defending people who are saying the article says 94% of these can be avoided, when the article says 94% of cancers occur in those countries.please

Edit: *94% of cancer deaths, wouldn’t wanna “retcon my whole argument”. This is a bad title for a different problem. We haven’t even started with it “being the first time”. Youre trying to convince us other people are mad too, go figure.

  • He lives out in the sticks, I can’t undo 15 years of skipping out on education (he’s 38).

I do argue it in moderation, but I prefer to tackle critical thinking in general, and hope he learns to draw his own conclusions. He recently got over that the earth is not flat and that those conspiracies don’t hold water. He’s even starting to identify content on tiktok that is framed in a certain way.

Maybe we’ll get there one day!

Edit: Tbf he’s a mechanic, and a good one at that, so flat earth was an easy topic. He managed to understand we can’t make oldschool carburators with flat earth physics, and he knows how those work. It’s like if I tried to convince him displacement in an engine isn’t real, just invented by big oil.

  • You can do all those things, and even in this racists world there are plenty of other people who don’t treat you like that. It’s not your face, it’s systemic racism. They say the same thing about other groups they don’t like.

This sounds like a select group (that you may be around often). Most people give zero shits about your face and have their own problems to think about, but some work really hard at making it seem like it’s everywhere.

Edit: I expected this to be unpopular, my point mostly being

Can’t thank anyone for a gift. Every holiday, I was “ungrateful” for everything.

Given this 100% rate of being “bitch face” with no nuance, you have to leave room for the fact you might have been wrong at least once. “Bitch face” is a thing and it’s not just pointed at black people (or black women). They want you to feel like that though.

    Beats thoughts and prayers…

  • It’s not “for some reason”. Dental was covered or heavily subsidized in Canada at least to 18 years old, until the conservative goverment convinced idiots only poor people without jobs need dental care. “If you work, youll have dental”, and now they take it from our total compensation.

I have teeth and mental health covered through my employer, which sadly doesn’t fit all situations that need dental and mental health (hence why tying insurance to employers is stupid).

I got a lot of teeth work done in the UK while I lived there on a Visa, and it cost almost nothing without employers insurance.

People complain about the american healthcare system because it’s an oligarchy and oligarchs in other countries are trying to do the same. US just showed them with enough money and lies you can get there.
