There are a few situations where it’s warranted I feel, here in Notts if you look at the Victorian terraces in places like Snienton, the space between buildings simply isn’t wide enough for a 2 lane road and cars for all of the houses, there are no driveways as there are no front gardens just steps down. There’s also not really anywhere else in the area where people could leave their cars, so people park half on the pavement and half on the road each side, leaving just enough room for a single car to drive down the road.

There’s enough busses go through the area, but it doesn’t seem to help.

Otherwise I’m all for it.

Every time I hear an American saying “Twot” I nearly vomit. It’s meant to be harsh, not gross.

The third thing is that they call strangers pet names, such as love and sweetheart.

Regional, but I think it’s dying off as some people take offence at it.

Duck or Ducky seems fine in Notts, how could be offended by that? I also like it because it’s gender neutral. I might refer to blokes that run shops and takeaways as boss or bossman though. It’s a bit London but I think it’s kinda charming.

It has everything but in my experience, you’ll need to wait a few weeks while whatever it is comes in from China.

They’ve been hollowing it out and privatising it for years. It doesn’t work on the railway which is why we’re looking at nationalising failing services, but for some reason when it comes to the NHS, the answer is more privatisation? If you privatise, it doesn’t matter how much funding is thrown in because there are always people skimming off the top.

IMO all private interests need to be kicked the fuck out, and their businesses nationalised. Forcefully if required.

The loss of maplins has made my Amazon boycott somewhat difficult, though not impossible, but there’s just no way to get small parts and adapters same day now, always have to wait for delivery. PC world used to have some stuff, but now it’s rolled into Currys you only get packaged stuff and peripheral cables and such. Sometimes Screwfix has what I need but it’s somewhat rare. They did have a bunch of audio a networking stuff last I looked though.
