Photoprism is great, the web UI works really well and it does a good job sorting and grouping photos based on faces / metadata.

Aw that’s so sweet! Yeah they grow up so fast its hard to keep up. I also noticed I can ask my kids about books or tv shows and they can give me pretty good summaries of what happened when before I’d get blank stares or a “you tell me”

One of our kids has been copying words they find in the house on to paper and asking us what they mean. It’s been fun finding random words to write out and they’ve memorized a few. She saw a short word in all lower case and wrote it out in all capital letters. Maybe its a little silly but I felt really impressed that she was able to translate the underlying letters to their other form unprompted.

I’m one of the only parents in my local friends group so they just nod and give a “wow cool” response. One of the slightly overwhelming concerns I have as a parent is there is just so much to teach and learn, so it’s a little deflating to me to share this incredible translation accomplishment that sounds mundane but I think is really cool. It was a great moment for us though and that’s what matters.

That’s great she was able to stand up for herself. So often groups are all thinking the same thing but need that person to voice it for them. When playing Legos or blocks we like to say things like “I want to knock this down, is that ok?” To make sure we’re playing in a way that avoids upsetting a boundary we weren’t aware of

I’ve been teaching my 5 year old man cala. He’s gotten good enough at it that he saw my last move was going to win and he silently stood up and walked away from the table. I asked him “hey aren’t you going to say good game?” And he said “but it WASNT a good game!” Gaming never changes.
