  • It is likely a parody of the fact that the incoming Trump administration has missed a deadline to file an ethics statement. Elizabeth Warren has called them out on it.

Liberal critics are frustrated that Trump got elected and the thing that the Dems are complaining about is that Trump did not file the appropriate paperwork.

    Feels very similar to me.

This will all be posted on Info Wars soon.

The funniest thing about The Onion buying Info Wars is that I can see a good chunk of the audience continuing to get their news there and not realizing that anything has changed.

  • He says “no commercial interest” but honestly I bet there could be. For one thing, there is still an astounding amount of VB6 out there is real use. I know of several US law enforcement agencies with Petabytes of data stored in an evidence management system whose UI and core logic is VB6 for example.

Also, there is really nothing quite like VB6 out there today for rapid prototyping or rapid GUI desktop dev for amateur devs. It is a niche that has never really been filled.

If this can run VB6 apps cross-platform on a modern foundation, that could be huge.

[yes, I realize this is a one man hobby project with no such ambition. I am talking about potential.]

  • Maybe visit. In practice, probably not as right wing as you are thinking.

Name a left wing issue in the US that you do not have in Alberta. Universal health care, abortion, and same sex marriage to name a few.

On the climate side, Alberta just moved completely off coal ( though the biggest local industry is oil and gas of course ).

Compared to where I live, Alberta is right-wing. I am not sure where you live in the US, but there is a good chance that Alberta is what your local democrats are shooting for.

The UCP and their anti-trans agenda is not great. Does that directly impact you? The problem is that we are not far from the US. Southern politics are dragging us to the right, though it is more rhetoric than action so far. That is happening everywhere in Canada.

I recommended BC but, if I had the remote income to pull it off, living in Canmore would be pretty great for me honestly.

I you don’t mind colder winters, the Maritimes is also something to think about. You might really like Halifax or St. John’s. Both are big towns more than major cities, real estate is cheap, and the people are lovely.
