Every time i see pictures of Chuck or Donald or even the flawed but important to me , I i’m remind these guys are all just leather skeletons. They all look so damn old. There is not a single cell of vitality in any of their photos.

I think this show stands out more than it normally would at the moment because 99.9% of current TV is absolute dogshit. It’s not high art but it’s made with attention to detail, effective use of style and a coherent sensibility that’s not just “here’s more slop.”

I think in general the coming age of post whatever this current slop insanity is, the key to good art both mainstream and indie is just noticeably giving a damn about your art. I think we are going to see a time when art/artists at least look like they are trying they are going to get credit for it. Which a bit of shame to me in the larger sense as I think we always try and give a shit about what we make, but I think we are going to see a return to strong fundamentals

If you asked 100 computer science majors why they chose CS they would all tell you it’s for the money.

For real! I remember when I got my undergrad in CS I thought there would be a maybe a 50/50 split between dorks and check-chasers but it was more like 20/80. That was 10 years ago, I can only imagine it’s 1/99 these days. I’m sure there are some real turbo-nerds who want to make magic with the computer, but it’s like you said too much money on the table to NOT be a code-goblin for some MEGACORP.

I’ll give it a shot, but if doesn’t live up to this hype I will write you a strongly worded letter. One with too many run on sentences.

I watched the first episode, but never returned to it. Not of lack of interest, just one of those “I’ll get around to it” but just haven’t yet.

Devs is on my watchlist, I have heard good things about it but I haven’t given it a go.

MrRobot I think showed promise but they fumbled it after the second season for me.

If you haven’t seen the film about him it’s really moving. He was one of the last techno wizard types that saw the liberatory power of the information age. It’s really a shame we don’t have more hacker types like this kat.

Dark is another all-timer for me! People sleep on it, but it’s one of the few “Streaming Era” shows I think genuinely needs to be analyzed and stolen from by writers. It’s just plain good storytelling. It had such a rich cast of characters, motivations, inter-personal narratives, and a lot of subtle emotional beats.

Season 1 was one of the strongest seasons of television I have seen in the last ten years. I think the pacing of season 2 isn’t that bad but I do see what your saying for sure. Regardless, I’m genuinely pleased with this show, it’s refreshing to know that sci-fi shows don’t need to have robots or space ships to really play to the strengths of the genre.

I don’t have a question, just want you to know that I want you, your family, your loved ones, and neighbors to be free from this nightmare. I hope and pray for peace that comes from justice for Palestine

White Male futures are looking good

Two things

1.) Just from those two still images it looks like director said “What if we tried to make it look like it was a AI developed commercial, but with humans.” I can’t quite articulate how/why but it looks like a human trying to make what they think a Generative AI tool would make if you said “Make a Carls Jr commercial with a hot babe in it”.

2.) Carl’s Jr. has and always will be D-tier. Not once have i heard anyone say “Let’s go get Carl’s Jr”. It’s always “not there not much around, I guess there’s a Carl’s Jr. here?”

Sounds like a good start to me. I’ll give him a listen for sure!

It’s a huge genre. I’m starting with John Coltrane and moving backwards from there.

Being listening to old jazz from a random playlist find this week and I have come to realize that Jazz is dope but I know nothing about the genre. I need to learn about the artists and who is worth listening to

Luke Cage is often revolutionized in his alternate forms. Pretty much every multi-verse version him has him leading a rebellion of some kind, and I for one dig it

If American wasn’t run by as a Necrocapitalist Pluto/Klepto-cracy, USPS would be such a cool and useful public service. It think the Postal service gets such a bad rap because it’s kneecapped at every opportunity and they people wonder why it sucks, thus justifying more privatization.

Is their whole pitch “We have sex, you poors need to know that we are busting in each other”?

I think about this often. I’m no economics big-brain but I would imagine if student loan jubilee (hell, even an “easing” on student loans) occurred, but it would really free up an entire generation of workers to do stuff. Move out their parents house, start families, buy a house, maybe start a business, maybe not be so depressed, all that sort of stuff. I understand why they don’t do it, but every time they conjure a gazillion dollars of aid to whatever client state or MEGACORP it just makes me so made they can’t spend a fraction of that on student loans. Education in America is so borked, which sucks as I believe education is actually cool and good. However we have just made education carnival of nightmares.
