I’d like to add drinking to that. If your hobby is drinking, and you drink several times a week, you might have an issue.
but it’s not an ADHD “pick up every hobby” friendly one
That’s true. I was in luck and there was a blacksmith in town who opens his workshop to kids on occasion or travels to job conventions and brought his tools with him. Maybe there are comparable activities/ offers near you, which I can highly recommend. Not only will you not have to worry about tools and materials, most importantly there will be a “teacher” around.
If you find something and decide to check it out, have fun! :)
Blacksmithing is one of the few hobbies that a guy probably can’t teach his girlfriend because women usually use a different technique to make up for strength differences.
Me, a woman who tried blacksmithing before: Don’t use spring steel or other metals that are hard to manipulate/hammer into shape when starting off. Don’t start with a sword, start with bending and twisting a nail into… whatever. If they like the hobby they’ll stick to it and the muscle will build over time. And if it doesn’t: power tools.
underrated comment xD
I am a Linux beginner so i could be wrong, but I believe Linux is very plug and play and has drivers already integrated. At least I don’t remember downloading any when I set it up. I am personally using Linux Mint Cinnamon with a GTX 1060. In Mint there is a Driver Manager preinstalled which let’s you pick a few nvidia drivers and an open source alternative, so it’s very beginner friendly :)
do I have to use the onboard graphics till i get everything installed?
To that I can confidentially say no: because I have no onboard graphics and always had video output ^^
Honestly, I didn’t like the portrail of Harry’s and Tom’s friendship either. Harry often plays second fiddle to Tom - most vividly in the holonovels. Tom is usually the main character while Harry is playing the sidekick. It never felt to me like they were seeing eye to eye.
I switched from Win10 to Mint, and am quite happy. You can get a lot of stuff done through GUI, so you can put off learning how to use the terminal a little. If you are worried about using it, I can recommend using ChatGPT. Helped me troubleshoot a lot of issues and learning a few tricks.
Not sure I’d want to experience Pon Farr first hand… so, ditch Spock, f**k Kirk, because… Kirk. And marry Bones I guess
I’d like to spin your argument into the other direction.
During the 3rd Reich and the years leading up to it, Hitler used the financial crisis, poverty and unemplyment to emtionalize people in order to make them vote for the NSDAP. His party/regime used a psudoscientific and non-factual ideology to dehumanize a part of the population. In this case most prominently jews but other ethnicities, gays, lesbians, disabled, too.
Let’s compare this to Trump and see how accurate the comparison is. There is a financial crisis right now, not as bad as the great depression, but a lot of people in America struggle to meet month’s end from what I understand. Trump uses this, talking about tarrifs and boosting the american economy. He also doesn’t rely on facts or logic in his program. He claims bizarre things like “windmills will give you cancer through the sound they emit” to push against renewable energy and the protection of climate and nature. He also dehumanizes parts of the american population. In his first term he banned Muslims from entering the US. using the already very latent distrust/ hate against the muslim population. He called for a wall on the mexican border, claiming mexican immigrants are through and through criminals, alledgedly endangering US citizens, when in actuality southern states are highly dependent on these immigrants to take low wage jobs in agriculture. Also, as laughable as it is: “They eat the cats” is part of that, too. He also has follows an anti-lgbtq+ ideology.
Hitler of coursed lived in a different time and people back then faced slightly different problems, but the patterns are similar. The goals are similar. They both follow an ideology that values people differently, based on percieved usefullness to a nationalist image of society.
Not comparing right-extremist leaders to the third Reich, not holding them up against that is, disrespectful to those who suffered. Trump has not comitted a genocide, but the ideology he popularized opens the gates far and wide for abuse of any kind. So I believe that we should compare him to Hitler to make it very clear where his actions could very realistically lead.

Guess he couldn’t take it with him to DS9 :(
I knew it was to good to be true xD I managed to troubleshoot a few things over the past days so I am good atm. But thank you for your offer :)
I get it. I also don’t want to signal to Microsoft that switching to a subscription model is valid, for an OS I already payed for. I worry they’ll adapt it for all services released in the future, which are declining in quality. They are basically becoming Adobes ugly sibling.
I know, this is a contradictory statement to what I have written before which was driven by frustration mainly. Managed to troubleshoot a few things since then.
Lol sorry for the ramble but I hope this might help you feel a little less lost at the grocery store. ;)
Thank you for your detailed comment. :)
I am dual booting Linux Mint Cinnamon, and you are totally right. The “app store” is very nice and I was honestly impressed how much control Cinnamon offered and made it accessible for beginners through GUI. It felt more streamlined than Win10 in some places. Steam’s Proton is also a huge deal, as most games work great with it enabled out of the box. I do however often feel lost. I didn’t expect that but the thing most difficult for me is basic stuff, like navigating the start menu. I really like the customization Win10 offered and miss it dearly.
I guess it is part not having a feeling on how Cinnamon works yet. After using Windows since 2006 I know my way around it failry well, and I don’t have that “gut-feeling” in Linux yet. It will come with time, but atm I am feeling a little defeated.
Jesus. How did you get that from what I have written
I find myself actually considering paying 30$ a year for prolonged windows 10 support because I find the switch to linux really overwhelming. Like being sent grocery shopping, but all lables are in traditional chinese. Some things you can figure out very easily, but troubleshooting anything takes me days.
Thing is, and I say that as a windows user with a little experience in linux: I got no idea what you are talking about, and I doubt many windows users do.
There are no actions, only transactions
I heard that it is supposedly forbidden in my country to name a child “Satan”. I live in a pretty progressive/ not very religious country, so I find that absolutely moronic. I would totally ask if it was possible to assign that as a second name.
And even though my low low bar, I would probably never name my child after any brand, place or food item. Names that sugest stupidity are also off the list.
Hier frage ich mich was der Autor meint. Habe letzte Woche der ePA widersprochen, das war ein Formular auf der Webseite meiner Krankenkasse, also eigentlich sehr direkt und einfach.
