  • The view farming in shorts makes it even harder to avoid as well. Sure, I can block the JRE channel, for example, but that doesn’t stop me from getting JRE clips from probably day-old accounts which just have some shitty music thrown on top. If you can somehow block those channels, there’s new ones the next day, ad infinitum.

It’s too bad you can’t just disable the tab entirely, I feel like I get sucked in more than I should. I’ve tried browser extensions on mobile which remove the tab, but I haven’t had much luck with PiPing videos from the mobile website, so I can’t fully stop the app.

  • The Ithaca, N.Y., university said … that AT&T and Verizon’s smartphones, routers and other products violate its patent rights in technology for improving the efficiency and signal strength of Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

The lawsuits said two Cornell engineering professors invented the technology described in the two patents, related to Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 wireless standards. Cornell received the patents in 2010 and 2011.

Cornell said that the companies infringe its patents by making and selling Wi-Fi-enabled devices that use the same wireless technology.

I’m confused, shouldn’t they be suing manufacturers? Or are there OEM products that ATT and Verizon are both selling just relabeled which are the products the lawsuit is about?

Are your PLA+ prints under any load at all? I have some PLA+ pieces that I have printed to repair outdoor Halloween and Christmas decorations which are at some stress points in the decorations and I have to replace them at the start of each season because they get so brittle by the time the holidays are over. Hoping to try PETG next year.

  • As a software engineer, I think there are many places where there is a big difference between a SWE and a programmer/developer based around how active you are in designing the architecture, algorithms, and other systems of the software you’re working on.

That being said, people who try to exclude SWEs from engineering are just gatekeeping for gatekeeping’s sake. Up until COVID, you could be a PE in software engineering, they only stopped it because the field was changing too fast for the tests to keep up.

  • Tried both, tried a normal resume and a resume with an ATS-focused layout, tried AI-based tools meant to help you improve your resume, and a few other things, and after more than forty applications in six months, what finally got me an interview and then very quickly an offer was an internal referral from a friend/ex-coworker. For context, I am a software engineer.

Fun fact: the average response time after submitting an application was 48 days.

  • I decided a while ago that I don’t think his complaints are a big deal to me, especially because he said he had no plans to develop a lemmy client of his own, which I would have happily supported.

After his experience with Reddit, I would have thought he would support anything that helped users leave the platform, and if that transition is made easier by a very similar app that doesn’t compete with anything he makes, why complain?

That’s just my take on it, others can feel differently.

I would have probably dropped lemmy because I couldn’t find a client that I liked until I came across the early versions of voyager/wefwef.
