A dude & his husband in Atlanta, GA
Oh yay!! I’m glad they’ve already made the update to the codebase. I wasn’t expecting it to be that fast lol.
You’re welcome to point people here if you want! Though, that one could be for Lemmy updates only & they could be cross-posted to this one too! Whatever you’d like to do :)
We actually don’t want to focus on Reddit lol, it probably comes across that way because we’re mostly Reddit refugees who loved best of Redditor updates :). I’m going to be posting from AskAManager & others too, but will probably wait for the character limit update.
Added you :), since you mentioned doing stuff on discord, would you be able to create a group chat for us mods to chat about the path forward/etc. for this community? I don’t have a discord, but can create one. It looks like there isn’t a built-in group chat feature here on Lemmy :(
Do either of you know of a place where we can group chat? Google didn’t help much :(
Yay! Figured it out XD. Under each of your comments, I tapped the 3 dots, then selected appoint as a mod :). Good to know for the future haha
Sounds good! I’ll add you and @[email protected]. Now to figure out how to add mods :). I’ve never modded before :/ haha
Mlem for iOS crashes like every 30 seconds for me :( I’ve had to stick to the browser :(
I’m using the browser interface mostly. There are still some issues, though. Like, I got the notification of your comment & the only way I can find to view it in the context of the other comments is to tap on the post name (going to the main post), then scrolling down to find my own comment & your reply. Manageable now, but certainly not manageable if/when Lemmy gets more popular :(.
It would be great to be able to select the notification to take me to the post page, highlighting the comment from the notification, and only loading the thread that comment is in (basically what happened when I tapped on the notification in the Apollo App).
Ahh, you’re on android I’m guessing? I’m iOS :( looks like Mlem is the only option rn, and it’s young & buggy :( but still using it! :) and I’m def sticking with Lemmy!
Yeah, I was going to say, anyone who’s creating polls on Reddit rn doesn’t know much about how to sample & avoid bias…
What app are you using for Lemmy?
It’s [email protected]. I think that’s how you link it?
Screenshots unfortunately aren’t super accessible for screen readers :(
It was suggested to me in another thread to use something like Pastebin to share large amounts of text, but when I tried, it wasn’t formatted :( I’m also looking at possibly using Github pages, which will apply the correct formatting, but I’m thinking users are unlikely to click thru to 3rd party webpages anyway
I just did the same thing for Best Updates (BORU replacement) only to find out that Lemmy post bodies can’t be longer than 10k characters (BORU posts are frequently over that). I’m not sure how best to proceed :/
This level of editorial influence sounds to me like Reddit is becoming more of a media publisher/editor instead of just a platform, which would (should) remove their protection from defamation & other law suits based on content published on the site…
