  • Born and raised here. It’s nice if you love the outdoors and nature, but if that’s not a big draw for you then our CoL is absolutely insane for such a boring and small place. Paying 2760 per month for a run down shithole 3 bedroom in a shitty neighbourhood fucking sucks and unless you have a degree, you have to work some kind of labour job to make decent money. Most of those are either camp jobs or require a vehicle cause they’re out of range of the public transit.

It is a beautiful place and our summers are short but amazing, but like I said it’s awfully boring if you’re not an outdoorsy person. The winter is also long, dark, and very cold.

  • I only got into it 3ish years ago, originally pirating it cause I was broke at the time, but I bought it as soon as I could with my first paycheque from my current job. Absolute god tier game with god tier devs. I would’ve pre-ordered (heresy, I know) Space Age if they let me, but I bought it day one. I’ve already got 617 hours on the steam version, and I probably put about 5-600 hours into the pirated version before I could afford it.

Love me some Factorio and Wube. 2nd favorite game of all time behind Super Metroid.

  • I personally play it through steam but I’ve had an account there for a decade now so that doesn’t bother me. But Factorio allows you to buy directly from their website if you prefer. This also bypasses steams cut I would assume (correct me if that’s wrong please) and you get a steam key with the purchase in case you do ever make a steam account.

You do need to make an account on their website to do that so apologies if that disqualifies it for you. Wube is a rare shining example of a god tier company though, finding a bug is literally a meme in the Factorio community cause of how thoroughly polished the game is. They even fix bugs that exclusively affect mods and not the base game.

  • One of my two separate 2TB SSds running Bazzite is my boot drive. I have 2 more seperate physical drives, a 1TB running Windows and a 2TB running CachyOS.

Edit: Not sure if it matters, but my 2TB SSD running (what used to be my primary Windows install) CachyOS is in the first NVME slot, my other 2TB SSD running Bazzite (primary boot option) is in the 2nd NVME slot and the 1TB SSD running Windows is in the 3rd NVME slot.

  • The Starcraft cutscenes are awesome, both SC1 and SC2 as well as both games being awesome. Obviously you’re not gonna get movie level graphics in game. RTS games aren’t about graphics but about how the game plays and both Starcraft games are still the best RTS out there.

Fuck modern blizzard but they used to make some awesome games. There’s a reason Starcraft is still the premier RTS to this day despite both games ages. They both play extremely well (SC1 less so but its aged impressively well) and I still play both casually.

  • I haven’t used Ubuntu since around 2014, so I couldn’t give you a proper comparison tbh. Sorry!

What I can say is that my entire Steam library basically just works, and has since the day I installed Bazzite. I have more trouble with non-steam games though, EA app and battle.net games can be finicky at times, you just gotta mess with different proton/wine versions until they work, but they do all eventually work, at least for me. I don’t play much MP games outside of Starcraft 2, Overwatch 2, Helldivers 2, and Space marine 2, so if you play any MP games I don’t play, then your mileage may vary.

I’m extremely happy with Bazzite, it’s made me a true Linux convert, which is why I want to dip my toes into Arch in the form of CachyOS while keeping Bazzite as a backup in case I fuck something up!
