I was going to write a long drawn out wall of text to explain my thoughts and reasoning, but to just summarize…
I would have liked to have had kids years ago, but I also knew that the future for any kid is going to be grim. They should not have to be forced to deal with the societal and environmental collapse that is guaranteed to happen. Especially for my country there is a zero chance that kid will have a good life. So I just won’t. Maybe I’ll adopt, since at least that’s saving a victim and not contributing to more miserable children, but I cannot conciously bring a child into this existence which I have no hope for.

This is the perspective of someone who doesn’t see a future for their country. There are still places in the world that still have hope for their civilizations. I just have none for mine.

This was legitimately bad for the USSR and had he been allowed to resign when he wanted he would have been able to mentor the next in charge. We need more socialist minded people in trade jobs. Of the few unions left, that’s where most of them are. And I can tell you, most of the people in those jobs fall for the right wing “hard working American” grift, and hate unions despite benefitting massively from them. So more socialist minded people might help turn the tide and save those unions.

Most trade jobs are what’s going to the last to go when things start really falling apart. I have a buddy that’s in an electrician apprenticeship through a city sewer district. No matter what happens, people are going to need electricians and sewage system. People are going to need carpenters, welders, etc.

If you are a comrade and are afraid you can’t afford college, look for trade jobs. If I was 10-20 years younger and knew then what I know now I’d have thrown away my aspirations for a degree and picked up some wire cutters and suffered the 5 years of an apprenticeship. My buddies making more as an apprentice than I did for the first 5 years after college with a science degree.

So your options are, college and debt or an apprenticeship for 5 years that will (MAYBE) have you working ass hours and hating life, except the apprenticeship you will be net positive on income. ALSO, I went to college, and STILL had to get out and work ass hours at whatever job I could find. Leading me to almost become suicidal at one point due to the stress. I eventually found better work but it’s not even related to my field and when I eventually get fired for being a remote worker, I won’t have shit for local experience.

So yeah, seriously consider trade jobs my comrades.

I think it’s easier to design maglevs to be more aerodynamic but also the lack of needing wheels at all is a big deal. Basically high speed rails are far more efficient at lower speeds but require far more energy at high speeds specifically because of the limitations of wheels and friction based propulsion.

Maglevs are far less efficient at low speeds due to the energy requirements of the magnetic levitation, but at high speeds beat out the rails because they just glide over the tracks and are propelled by fucking magic and no moving parts.

Sure there are disabled people that make due but the vast majority of tasks are so drastically easier with 5 functioning digits. As someone who does woodworking, painting, cooking, and a bunch of other hobbies that involve manual use of your hands… I just can’t even. Lol. If the US collapses from within, I’ll be just fascist infighting and devil e to barbarism. The American populace is simply too far gone, too propagandized and stupid, to do a socialism. If, on the other hand, the US goes to war, and the world fights back, nukes will probably fly. So it’ll probably be the end of human civilization. If by some miracle it’s not, I think the US will lose a major confrontation. This is actually the only hope of socialism taking hold, assuming China takes a major part in control of the broken nation. If they don’t and leave us to our own devices… It’ll just be more barbarism.

There other options I can imagine besides these but realistically, I do not see many options that involve the US populace itself, implementing a better system.

Sorry if this seems doomer, it I truly, truly do not believe the American populace will ever overthrow the current system with the intent of implementing a better one. Hate, bigotry, individualism, etc, is engrained into our existence.
