I don’t want to get out of the hood, I want to make it so that it’s favorable to the people who already live there.
True safety is:
- Having housing security
- Full healthcare
- Free education
- Healthy food
- Mass public transit
- Owning their workplace and running it democratically
- Natural areas for leisure
It’s not a matter of if we want it. We do. It’s changing the system so that we CAN have it without being exploited.

That co-op employer idea is a bit much. I’d settle for either:
A bit biased because my job and location has usually meant easy mobility and demand for people like me. Employers have to treat me well because I have so many other easy choices
