Lantidra is an IV infusion of pancreatic insulin-producing cells taken from deceased donors. An exciting first step. It won’t be used widespread, but in instances of T1D with level 3 (severe) hypoglycemia, which is frequent blood sugars <54, this treatment may help reduce insulin dependence. Of note, it does require immunosuppression. There’s another more detailed link here.
