I remember being on the mainland and having to make a special trip to a city in a different state with a small arthouse theater with something like 30 seats to see Princess Mononoke when it first came out. It’s about time he got this recognition.
Yes, it really is!
Come to think of it, I’ve seen several of his films at my country’s international film festival.
