Exactly what the title says. I’m not a native English speaker, so almost everything regarding auto-correct and word suggestions is turned off, except for grammar and speeling checks, that is set to underline. Underlining works in every other app, except Jerboa. Why is that?

I’m having a problem where if I use backspace to delete some characters of a word, it will seemingly at random remove spaces between previous words.

Yes! I have the same problem, but weirdly enough it’s only with messagease, and gboard is fine, wonder if some keyboards handle backspacing differently

That’s strange. I’ve just tried and I can confirm it’s the same for me.

I’m also on android and for most apps this is something controlled in the system settings and I’m pretty sure is managed by the OS and not individual apps.

I wonder what jerboa is doing differently…

I also notice that the formatting buttons and the second half of the text box go off screen, underneath the keyboard as I type.

I wonder if there’s a repo or an issue tracker where we can better report these things?

That is cool, I didn’t even know you could do that. I get my words spelled checked by just typing and getting suggestions. I am assuming you use Android, is this something you set up in the settings of the phone? I can’t find it (I have a Samsung), I can only find autocorrect with spell suggestions

Yeah, I use Android. Those are Gboard specific settings (the on screen keyboard I use, it’s the default keyboard for Android). You’d have to go in Additional settings --> Languages and Input, and there, you can choose your on screen keyboard and it’s related settings.

And actually, it’s set to underline and suggest corrections, but only if you tap the underlined word. This suits me just nice, since I use the regular latin keyboard (I just hate switching keyboards and layouts) for local communication as well, so it’s easier if everything just goes underlined if I’m not typing in English, even if there are errors, most locals will understand what I’m trying to say, lol 😂.

That explains it! I use Microsofts swiftkey keyboard and I couldn’t find any settings like that on it either. But maybe I should try gboard out. Sounds pretty neat! :D

I recommend using SwiftKey keyboard not g-board, not because of privacy, but because its better regarding multi language autocorrect and has many features the G-board lacks.

Hm, will try it. Can you remove autocorrect from it? Cuz my current settings with underline bad grammar or misspeled words and just tap on the word/phrase to get the suggestion for the word/phrase to be correct, suits me just fine. I don’t like auto-correct at all, it messes with my native language spelling.
