From their giant flea-like appearance to the way they’re controlled everything about them gives me the creeps.

Any creepy TES fauna and flora you’re not a fan of?

I miss these, Morrowind was such an inspired game with such unique environments

I was legitimately angry when I first played oblivion and learned you could just teleport anywhere automatically right from the start of the game

I was mildly annoyed when I played Oblivion for the first time and learned that the parts of Tamriel other than Vvardenfell have generic woodland and fantasy creatures instead of the acid trip fever dream shit they came up with for Morrowind.

I was also pissed off when I found out they removed levitation.

The area Oblivion takes place in was supposed to be jungle. But Todd Howards gotta be as generic as possible.

Oblivion was developed during mid 2000s during/after LOTR mania. I loved the art direction but it was definitely chosen for mass market appeal over anything else

Not to mention that Oblivion’s interpretation of Cyrodiil is just so bland compared to Vvardenfell.

Which is only exacerbated by how weird some of the Daggerfall/Morrowind-era lore about the imperial province was.

The entire continent of Morrowind is very alien. That was honestly one of the biggest draws to the game, because it was a fresh take on the Elder Scrolls type of fantasy. It didn’t just feel like earth with some magical creatures scattered around.

It very creative I love it. I absolutely agree it’s disturbing if you think about it, but really, why walk when you can ride?

What’s most disturbing is how the Dunmer steer these things to go where they want. They poke and prod at their exposed nerves and organs to coax the beasts into going where they want them to go.

Holy shit, I never knew we were literally removing the shell from these poor dudes and messing with their brain chemistry in order to influence movement.

Feel kinda bad using them now.

Elder Scrolls Online leans into the flea aspect pretty well. Everything on the island is a lot more flea-like.

I find them fascinating. I like the sounds they make and the way it blends into the ambience. Kind of like whale sounds, except on land.

Somewhere I saw an animation of them walking- now that was creepy.

I’m not a big fan of sloads, but idk if that counts as they are a sentient race. But I just don’t like looking at those Jabba-looking mfs.

To me, it’s quite the opposite! I feel like Silt Striders are kind of cozy, actually. What can be more comfortable and safe to travel than on the back of a big bug-giraffe? They are sweet, calm, non-aggressive, domesticated creatures.

I find the whole alien-like feeling of Morrowind and it’s creatures very calming and relaxing, so I’m kind of opposite here.
