A neurodivergent friend sent me a link to this site and I thought it’s worth sharing here for more folks to see.
Basically it’s a TODO list that breaks down tasks in micro-steps using AI to make it a bit easier for people who have a hard time starting a task.
An example for “Clean my room”:
They have an app version available for 99¢ if anyone would like to support the developer! Everything is available in the free version, so you won’t get anything extra if you buy it, and you aren’t missing out on anything if you don’t. I think it’s super cool that they have all these helpful tools available for free and I hope more people who are able buy the app version to support them.
I have a few dollars kicking around in my Google Play Store account from taking Google Rewards surveys, and I like to use it to support devs, so I jumped right on it!
I’m hoping maybe having it installed as an app and on my phone screen home page thingy will help me be less likely to forget about it again and hopefully be more likely to actually think of using it when I need it. Any time I remember it exists, I can’t think of anything specific to use it for…any time I actually need something like it, I forget it exists. 🙃 Curse this damn brain!!
Also, like others have said, they have a handful of other great tools on there. Click the little menu thingy in the top left corner and you can look through the other tools and get a link to the appropriate app store to buy the app and help out the awesome person who provides these helpful, life changing tools for free!
Fun-ish activity : ask goblin to break down one simple task, then to break down the smallest subtask, rinse and repeat ! Got some funny end results - nothing false per-se, but absurd in-length description of a seemingly atomic action.
This is so cool! Will check it out!
Edit: I checked it out and this is a massive gamechanger for me and my wife (both ND)! I believe this could be the next big thing for accessibility for the ND population!
Thank you again for posting this!
Thanks a lot for this. It has actually more tools than just the to-do list, like rewriting text in different styles or a kitchen helper, where you enter ingredients and equipment you have and get recommendations for what to cook.
their other tools seem to be equally as good, i’m really impressed by Judge. to any lurkers, check out the other tools on the page.
This is absolutely invaluable for me, thanks so much for sharing! The formalizer and judge are really gonna save this lil goblin from unnecessary stress!!!
Oh boy, the AI has no filters.
Neat! This also reminds me of this task manager app I saw a while ago that basically tries to gamify stuff by turning everything into some sort of RPG. Let me see if I can dig that up as well.
To get back to GoblinTools, the first impression is pretty cool. It really manages to break up a big abstract task in smaller managable tasks.
Edit:
Habitica is at least one of such task managers I have seen in the past. But I also seem to remember there being an open source self hosted alternative.
I use Habitica, really helpful when I’m having a depression relapse. I like how you collect pets by completing tasks
This looks like a fantastic set of tools, thanks for sharing :)
ChatGPT can do this as well.
For all those apps keep in mind they store everything you enter, so you might decide not to share personal information. Also, by combining different chunks of your data that each one by itself doesn’t contain much information about you, they can get to know more about you than you thought at the beginning.
Wonder if there’s a way to do this with self-hosted AI/localllama-type stuff? ^.^
For someone like me who’s easily distracted, this is so helpful. Thank you
