Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Nice and sunny out here in Welly. Planning to head out to Palmers soon to buy some herbs and chilli plants, and sort out my little balcony garden.

It’s nice and sunny on this side of the Strait too. I’m debating whether to fight the hordes to go and get some strawberries plants but I’m not sure I have a key to the garden shed where all the potting mix etc is stored.

Nice! I’m catching up on long overdue lawn mowing. Honestly I’d rather leave it to the bees but it’s getting to the point where we’re going to lose a kid in that jungle

Partly cloudy with breaks of sun here. I managed to move some lavender plants that popped up in the last year from a spot I removed them from. Fingers crossed they survive.

Should mow the lawn, but meh

Woke up at 7am with barely any rest, due to nightmares about being in hospital and having a heart attack.

“I should drink caffeine again. None of this decaf crap is doing me any good!” I thought to myself. So I went to the cupboard, and made myself a strong coffee to break my sobriety with. Next thing I know, far from keeping me awake and alert - I fell asleep so deeply - that I woke up at 11:45am all disoriented, seeing fractals and visuals.

Needless to say, I have Health Anxiety. It’s really just a fear of death, at the end of the day. I know that therapy and medication won’t help me, as it’ll just cause me to become obsessed with medication side-effects. The only thing that will help me is to accept death, and live every single day as if it were my last. Chase after my goals and aspirations like a ram-raider. Hurry up and live my life, and live it Fast - because my mind is still drenched in fear, excuses and procrastination. I’ve got 1 year worth of food, and technically 30 years worth of my prescription meds. I could survive a nuclear war, if I needed to. So cost of living is no excuse, either. (I might need a new passport, though…)

I’m no expert, but have you tried any natural remedies? Like drinking chamomile tea or Arepa, which can reduce your anxiety? Manuka tea (with kawakawa for a nice bonus) is also know for its anxiolytic (anxiety reducing) effects. Meditation also helps, at least in my limited experience.

Have you considered the possibility that medication might reduce your anxiety to the point where you don’t worry so much about the side effects?

Kids all went with their grandmother for the day so we are getting so many jobs done! Still haven’t got to the lawn yet, but we can see the carpet so I know we are making progress.

On a related point, anyone got tips on removing hundreds of stickers from a polished wooden floor?

I can peel one off easy enough, the issue is the volume. I don’t want to pick them off one by one.

        Huge rug sounds good 😆

Luckily we relegate all art to one corner, so the rug is feasible!

Maybe a paint scraper or one of those you use on a windshield? I’d be worried about scratching the floor though. Rug is definitely easier!
