I recently got Pokemon Home and let me just say I love the continuity it provides. Not only can I play with nostalgic teams, but the trade’s on offer are the most busted things Ive seen in a long while. Requesting a lv 91-100 Pharaoh/La Reine trim Furfrou for a Kubfu? Sure that sucks, as there is no way to train one in the current gen, requiring a Pokemon bank enabled DS or a literal trip to another country, but its a legendary, so I kinda get it. But all that for a lv 5 Alolan Rattata? I feel like I’m back in the middle-school cafeteria getting fucked on trades again. Thanks Pokemon Home.
“* * * *” 4/5 stars. it loses a point because i haven’t figured out how to get my box to actually be sorted by National Dex order for real and not just a search filter
Actually, those Furfrous are impossible trades. The moment Furfrou is put in a box, it becomes its original form and loses the actual hair style it was. The only way to get Pokémon Home Furfrous with other trims is by having them come from Go, which they only appeared in for a limited time with trims being region-based, and make it better, none could be even close to level 100! You’ll sooner find the Galarian Ponyta that can be transferred to Let’s Go (this is a real trade you can request, you take a guess if it’s possible). 10/10
Thanks for the info ! Do you know why people ask these impossible trades ? 🤔
To flex their Pokémon. I’m not kidding, that’s seriously the only reason why.
Er, okay. I didn’t thought about that. That’s lame, in my opinion.
Why are thes impossible trades even allowed. Ive seen so many requests for lv 1 -10 final evos like darapult and typhlosion. You would think the system would recogniz that as impossible and deny the post
Probably the fact that Go constantly updates and can have oddly level Pokémon, so one day they all technically could be possible, but aren’t now.
Let’s Go mons who can never enter Let’s Go like Galar Ponyta though… no idea.
Who even plays Go anymore. I havent seen anyone walking around tapping balls since 2017-18 and im near a city so i would imagine stops are relitively plentiful
Considering it still makes a ton of money, more than you’d think! Certainly not a huge craze anymore, but it still has its fans.
I start playing the game again a week ago. In a mid size city in France, gyms got conquered by a new team almost everyday (in the inner city thought).
Tbh I continue to be opposed to Pokemon Home, simply because it’s a service that used to be included in the games. I really resent that they took that feature out so they could sell it back to us, as well as hate that so many people seem to think it’s okay that this happened
Still dont have my favorite.
Who should we burn incense for? Who are you missing?
Oh man, that sucks. Who are you missing?
I wish there was a way I could evolve trade-evolutions mons by myself with Home. I usually purchase both versions, so why not allow me to evolve the trade evolutions by dropping them from one version to the other or something?
that would be super appreciated! though right now i do believe its possible if you have Legends. There is an item called the link charm (i think) that should be able to do link evos.
@DeadWorld Thanks for the heads up! I’ll have to look into that. Would also be great if they did that with newer games going forward. Since I left Reddit, I no longer participate at r/PokemonTrades, which was the only way I was able to complete the Galar and Paldea dexes.
is there a board for that here? might be useful, but Ive personally never trusted the trade rooms. Much safer to prowl the streets and force people to trade in real life
@DeadWorld I’m not sure. It was the only thing that kept me leaving Reddit for the longest time.
The people requesting high-end legendaries and the like for some random low level garbage 'mon might be participants of offsite giveaways. I’ve hosted GA’s like these on reddit a couple of times whenever I had a ton of nice breedjects (like hidden ability starters with good IVs for example), but oftentimes other redditors also hosted GAs with hacked 'mons.
You basically made a post saying; “I currently have 50 hacked Hidden Ability Shiny Dittos, each with 6 perfect IVs. If you want one, put some low-level garbage 'mon into the GTS, request a lv.91-100 Ditto, and tell me your in-game name and what exactly you offered”.
Then people would leave comments like “My IGN is DudebroMcGee, left a lv.4 Caterpie, thank you” and the GA host then searched for this particular mon, checked if the username matched, and gave them the Ditto.
If your request is NOT absolutely insane in that situation, like for example offering an actual legendary or a popular shiny for that Ditto, it might get “sniped” by someone who has an ordinary boring non-HA bad-IV Ditto just lying around, and then you just lost a cool Pokémon for something you didn’t want. For those giveaways, it’s always best to offer the worst garbage and ask for something ridiculously valuable in return so that noone except the GA host would be tempted to trade.
Doesnt Nintendo (or pokemon company) check for hacked pokemon in the system? How are they getting away with this in Home
They try, but utterly fail at it at the same time. As long as the Pokémon is “legal” (technically possible, no matter how improbable) they consider it “legit” (the real thing). Surprise Trades are full of “advertisement Pokémon”, usually shiny legendaries, Lv.100 starters with perfect IVs and the like, holding things like Master Balls or Ability Capsules, that are either nicknamed things like website-dot-com or have a website as their OT. (example)
Long story short, their filters suck. The only Pokémon that get flagged as fake are the ones that have “impossible” combinations, like male Salazzle or female Mothim. It’s especially annoying for people who send Breejdects into Surprise Trades, as you get those Advertisemons all the time.
