Does anyone here do their gaming on an SBC or hardware emulation machine? I’m considering trying to start an instance for these machines and am curious if there’s much desire

I’m really into these machines, particularly Anbernic and Retroid. I’m already in the linked group and on the Retro Handhelds Discord. Hoping to see content here!

Pi 3B+ and RG351V here reporting in. They’re decent, although I think a Steam Deck with dock and desktop PC ran like a HTPC to your TV are probably a better setup if you’re willing to put more time into it.

I do a lot of emulation and gaming currently on three portable devices:

    • Powkiddy X55 - 8, 16, and 32 bit, plus various ports like Doom, Duke Nukem, Fallout, others
    • 2DS XL - NDS and 3DS. Some GBA and 8/16 bit, but the Powkiddy took over a lot of that.
    • Samsung Tab S7 FE tablet - Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, and native Android games and ports.

I’m surprised how much mileage I get out of these devices, and how little I turn on my gaming PC these days.

I have an OrangePi Zero 2 setup as a console under my TV. The zero 3 just came out and it $15. Does all 16 bit consoles, can run Linux or android (android works better for emulator)

Anyways I’ll join if you make a !SBCgaming or something like that.

I have to admit every time I see one I really get the urge to buy one. But personally I prefer buying older systems and putting emulators on them. The PSP is a classic for instance.
