Wonder if they have sugar-free options.

There was a discussion earlier on Lemmygrad about a potential problem of fiction positively portraying monarchs. I’d like to give my two cents but for now seeing that even a company from the PRC does it with its mascot at least helps me believe it’s not that inherently harmful of a phenomenon.

      Lol context matters.

A tv series whitewashing historical royal families, like the Romanovs, sure its reactionary propaganda. Its easy to see whats wrong in that.

Now for Mixue mascot being some sort of king of ice cream, its a bit insane to think there is something wrong in there. Mixue has a donghua studio developing series about its mascot, i dont really know anything about it but i can’t imagine it spreading monarchist propaganda lmao.

Fictional/cultural portrayals of concepts like monarchy are probably only harmful to the extent the audience has no serious education on the topic. It may not be an issue in China if they have a higher level of political education among everyday people.

True, and I was thinking that kind of education can help people think critically about the setting the monarch is in and how advanced the productive forces are. After all, I think feudalism was once a progressive force against slave society much like how capitalism was once progressive against feudalism. Once we live under communism for a long time, positive portrayals of early socialism may similarly be seen as regressive to the uneducated.

I don’t think he’s ever portrayed as the king of anything, he’s just a snowman with a funny crown. Incidentally I’ve been there a lot and their stuff is good, very affordable for sure.

小Lin说 has a video explaining their business model and history, is very interesting.

Its basically a supply chain company that happens to sell beverages, and is now doing donghua lol

Yeah. There was a literal butcher going off about how animal rights and Marxism have nothing to do with each other; which is a half-truth at best. Opportunist types.

I’ve just assumed that veganism/such is a lost cause here when it’s met with vitriol instead of actual debate or discussion. That’s the part that gets me; they’re the type who absolutely shudder, piss and cry at the thought of their tasty treats getting taken away from them. A good chunk of them just ignore you too. Fun stuff.

I don’t think we need to call out non-vegans for now. Carnist marxists are terribly imperfect but we still need to stop our main enemy, - the capitalists, before we start bashing carnies
